SERIES FCS-15 / 30
DESCRIPTION
These series consist of 8 switched-mode power supply models that come in card format with
power ratings of 15W and 30W.
The circuit comprises a mains noise filter to reduce conducted noise that is generated by power
supply switching to acceptable levels, followed by a full-wave rectifier. The direct voltage thus
obtained is applied to a flyback converter stage that provides a stabilised output isolated from
the mains.
The regulation circuit is of the current-mode type, in which the primary contains an integrated
pulse-width modulation (PWM) circuit that directly controls the switching component (MOSFET).
The secondary part contains the error amplifier; information from the latter is transferred to the
PWM unit through an optocoupler, controlling the duty cycle and thus, the output voltage.
The power supply has an overload protection since it limits the power output. In the case of a
stroke overload or short-circuit, a sequential series of OFF and ON cycles occurs, with
automatic recovery of the output voltage once the overload condition is removed.
INSTALLATION
The entire series can be installed in a Eurocard card-holder or attached by means of four holes
located at the corners.
START-UP
Connect as shown in the table.
If you wish to connect several power supplies in parallel, you must do the following:
• Adjust the output voltage of all power supplies such that the difference between them is
minimised.
• Join the outputs on the load, using cables with a cross-section no greater than necessary and
of equal length.
For safety reasons, you must:
• Include some easily accessible means of disconnecting the power supply from the mains.
• Only replace the fuse with another fuse of the same rating and type, and only after
disconnecting the power supply from the mains.
• Provide the equipment with some kind of protective enclosure that complies with the
electrical safety directives in effect within the country where the equipment is installed.
• Use a power cord with a cross-section not smaller than 0.75mm
