10 - WARNINGS & CONSIDERATIONS
10.4 - Sterile Environment
• It is recommended to use Dermapen 4™ in an aseptic or sterile environment.
• Always wear gloves while operating the Dermapen 4™ device.
• To avoid infection, unseal the Cartridge and DPSleeve just before treatment and ensure
the Dermapen 4™ does not touch other objects.
• Always disinfect the skin before and after any procedure.
• Dermapen 4™ Needle Cartridges are sterilized and designed for single use only. Carefully
check the seal for damage before use, and if damage is present or seal is broken the
Cartridge must be disposed of with its original cap or in a sharps container.
• Do not reuse or resterilize cartridges.
• Do not use Needle Cartridges past their use by date.

10.5 - Before Treatment

• Dermapen 4™ "Medical" (4MD) model is sold exclusively for medical use only (general
public sales are prohibited).
• Examine the patient's skin before treatment. Not all patients or skin conditions are suitable
for treatment with this product. Refer to device specifi cation.
• Only qualifi ed physicians who asses patient suitability are able to determine if Dermapen
4™ is an appropriate procedure for each skin condition. Operators should be confi dent
to use Topical Local Anaesthetic and select appropriate combination therapies (such as

• Do not use the product if the date of validity of any of the product components have
expired. Needle Cartridge expiry date is prominent on the packaging.
• Ensure appropriate patient consent forms are completed before treatment.
• Use only the Dermapen 4™ Needle Cartridges [DP4-NDL-7; DP4-NDL-33] and Sleeve
[DP4-SLEEVE-33] supplied with this product. The device is not compatible with other
Cartridges or Sleeves. The Cartridge version is prominent on the packaging.
• Use only the Battery [DP4-BTR], Battery Charger
PSU] supplied with this product.
• Incorrect installation of the Battery in the Dermapen 4™ or Battery Charger is hazardous
and may result in fi re, personal injury and damage to property. Always carefully check the
polarity before installing or using batteries.

10.6 - During Treatment

• Inexperienced practitioners should avoid contact with the lip area, as the skin is thinner
and more sensitive in this region.
• Avoid any contact or procedures within the orbital rim of the eye socket at all times.
• Do not exert excessive pressure with the Dermapen 4™ on any skin area.
• Do not use the Dermapen 4™ on children or animals.
• In case of a rash, allergic reactions or any other undesirable e ect, stop using the
Dermapen 4™ immediately. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention.
10.7- Electrical Safety
• Do not operate the Dermapen 4™ in wet areas.
• Do not operate the Dermapen 4™ under water.
• Do not operate the Dermapen 4™ in association with fl ammable agents.
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, the Dermapen 4™ must only be used with the supplied
Power Adaptor.
