when installing hitch
1. Remove trim panel – Using a flat head screwdriver, remove (5) plastic push rivets from under the drive side trim panel as shown in Figure 2. Carefully remove
trim panel and return to owner.
2. Lower exhaust – Using exhaust removal pliers, remove (2) exhaust hangers. (1) can be found at the end of the exhaust and the other can be found at the base of
the exhaust. Be sure to support exhaust before removing rubber hangers.
3. Trim caulking – Using a razor utility knife, partially remove caulking from trunk pan to obtain flatter surface as shown in Figure 3, both sides.
4. Install hitch - Raise hitch into position and align bracket holes with weld nuts in frame rail. Loosely install M12 bolts and conical washers to hitch, see Figure 1.
NOTE: Using wire brush to clean the weldnuts if needed.
5. Tighten all M12 fasteners with torque wrench to 76 Lb.-Ft. (103 N*M).
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
6. Reinstall exhaust – Raise exhaust back into position.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should
be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
