5. Air supply

Tools of this class work with different air pressure settings. An air pressure of 6.2 bar (90
psig) is recommended for outdoor running of these tools. Higher pressure and unclean
air shorten the life of the tool due to the faster wear and can lead to dangerous situations.
Water in the air line leads to tool damage. Empty the air container daily. Clean the air inlet
filter screen at least once a week. The connector used for the air supply has an American
1/4" NPT standard thread. For unusually long air hoses (over 7.5 metres) the air pressure
should be increased to compensate. The internal diameter of the hose should be at least
3/8" and the connectors should have the same internal dimensions. Make sure that the air
supply line has an easily accessible emergency stop valve and point out the location to
other people.
6. Troubleshooting and fixing
Other factors outside the tool can lead to loss of power and irregular operation. A reduced
compressor output as well as excessive loading of the air line, moisture or constrictions in
the air lines, or unsuitable fittings can reduce the air supply. When the external conditions
are correct and the tool still does not work reliably, disconnect the tool from the hose and
take it to the nearest authorised service centre.

7. Lubrication and maintenance

Lubricate the tool daily with a high-quality Förch oil for pneumatic tools. If no air line oiler is
used allow 15 ml (1/2 oz) of oil to flow through the tool. The oil can be drizzled into the air
inlet of the tool or into the hose at the connection next to the air supply. Then let the tool
run. Rust protection oil is acceptable for pneumatic tools.
