Handle Lockout Ring is for use with Spears
®
lockout mechanism. Normal handle lockout operation allows lockout in both open and closed positions. The
Lockout Ring limits lockout operation to either a lock-open only or a lock–closed only position, according to the
position in which the Lockout Ring is installed.
Step 1: Remove Valve Handle
Using a small screw driver, lift blue cap from center of valve handle and
remove retaining screw. Pull handle and lockout assembly straight up and
disengage from valve stem.
Step 2: Install Lockout Ring in Desired Position
Lockout Ring is fastened to valve using a drop of solvent cement
or "super-glue" applied to the underside of each lug. Use sparingly
- DO NOT allow cement to enter stem area. Carefully wipe off any
excess cement.
1. For Lock-Closed Only (prevents valve from being locked in the
open position): cement lock ring on body stem tower with lugs
aligned with valve and pipe line.
2. For Lock-Open Only (prevents valve from being locked in the closed
position): cement lock ring on body stem tower with lugs perpendicular
to valve and pipe line.
Step 3: Reinstall Handle & Lockout Mechanism
After cement has set, align stem key-way with ridge on handle and
press handle and lockout assembly onto stem until fully seated. Install
retaining screw and snap blue cap back onto handle.
