THE LIGHT ABOVE THE CRANK
A red light means radio is on. A green light means that there
is sufficient crank speed to enable a charge.
LCD BACKLIGHT
Press the DISP button to turn on the backlight for the LCD
and the buttons above the LCD. It automatically shuts off
after about 5 seconds.
SELECTING BANDS AND TUNING IN STATIONS
The US version plays AM (520-1710 KHz), FM (87.5-108
MHz) and Shortwave (5.8-21.8 MHz).
The European version plays AM (531-1611 KHz), FM (87.5-
108 MHz) and Shortwave (5.8-21.8 MHz).
Turn the radio on. Select AM, FM or SW1/SW2 with the knob
above the TUNE button (right side of the radio).
When listening to FM pull up the telescopic antenna all the
way. When tuning AM stations the telescopic antenna is not
needed and can be lowered. Tune in stations by revolving the
TUNE knob (right side of the radio).
Alternatively, you can use the automatic scan:
Start the scan using DOWN – or – UP key.
The scanning stops automatically when receiving worthy
channel.
SHORTWAVE LISTENING
Shortwave enables listening to broadcasts over vast
distances including other countries and continents.
The following information will help you get the best results.
• During the day, frequencies above 13 MHz are usually best.
• At night, frequencies below 13 MHz are usually best.
• Around sunset and sunrise, the entire shortwave range may
be good. Getting very close to a window and holding the
radio improves shortwave reception.
