rear axle. Use 13mm wrench to remove metal bracket holding rubber isolator rearward on Driver's side. See Picture 1, 2 & 3
next page.
Heat shield needs to be trimmed on driver's side above muffler. See Picture 4 next page for cutting information. Make sure
2.
trimmed heat shield is securely attached back to vehicle before proceeding with hitch installation.
3.
Fish-wire carriage bolts with blocks up through large round access holes in bottom of frame forward of attachment holes, and
out through attachment holes in bottom of vehicle frame, both sides of vehicle. See Picture 5 next page.
4.
Raise hitch into place above muffler. Be careful not to push bolts installed in Step 3. back up in to frame. Locate hitch frame
brackets on bottom of frame, being careful to guide bolt leader wire ends through holes in hitch brackets.
5.
Pull ends of carriage bolts through vehicle frame and hitch brackets and loosely install conical toothed washers and hex nuts.
Make sure carriage bolts engage with square hole in block as you pull bolts through frame.
6.
Pull hitch rearward as far as possible. This will allow enough clearance for spare tire basket to drop down and clear the hitch
cross tube if the spare tire needs to be removed later.
7.
Now you can tighten nuts for the carriage bolts holding hitch to vehicle frame to specification below.
8.
Reinstall exhaust hangers removed in Step 1.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
