NE324-TVDL
GB
DESCRIPTION:
NE324 is a specific power feeder for the caravan sector. In order to operate as battery charger as well, it is designed for
recharging lead, gel and AGM batteries with 12 V rated voltage and with a capacity adequate to the battery charging current
(check the compatibility of the maximum charging current with the technical sheet of the battery you intend
to connect for use).
POWER FEEDER MODE:
NE324 operates as power feeder when the 230 V network voltage is present, but no service battery
is installed or connected. In this mode, the output voltage is fixed to 13.5 V with maximum current of 19 A (max. 260 W).
BATTERY CHARGER MODE:
In case of a service battery connected to J2 and J26, the NE324 module operates as battery charger.
The device uses a charging combination with constant current, CC, and constant voltage, CV.
This allows significantly reducing the charging time and not damaging the batteries.
V
The battery charger starts charging to CC as long as the battery does not reaches
V
oc
a voltage value equal to Voc, afterwards it switches to CV operation.
f
In this phase, the device supplies a constant voltage equal to Voc /Vf,
the charging current gradually lowers and the battery can be permanently
left connected to the battery charger without damaging risks.
ATTENTION: When an auxiliary battery is installed, it is necessary to protect the positive cable with a 30/40 A fuse and the
battery sense cable (+ sense) with a 1 A fuse.
13POLE SOCKET INSERTED IN THE VEHICLE:
The entire system operates with a car battery. Attention! In this special situation, limit to the minimum necessary the
consumption in order to avoid the problems with driving the vehicle.
If there is a service battery or a 230 V network, the device disconnects the car battery and the utilities are
power supplied with 12 V by the service battery or by the feeder.
If the vehicle motor is in motion, the device turns off the external light and activates the coupling relay allowing the recharge
of the service battery using the alternator.
13 POLE SOCKET NOT INSERTED IN THE VEHICLE:
The entire system operates with service battery (is installed) or with power feeder if there is a 230 V network.
REPLACEMENT OF OUTPUT FUSES:
An overload or a short-circuit of the output circuits can cause the damage of the related protection fuse which will be
indicated by the light up of the led (red light) placed near the burnt fuse.
In order to replace the fuses, disconnect battery charger from the power supply, replace the damaged fuse with one of the
same value, and reconnect to the power network.
PROTECTION AGAINST 230 V NETWORK OVERVOLTAGES OR UNDERVOLTAGES:
The NE324 module integrates an electronic system which protects the battery charger against network overvoltages or
undervoltages and it activates in these cases:
PROTECTION AGAINST OVERVOLTAGE: It occurs if the network voltage exceeds 277 V, the system is restored
automatically if the voltage drops under 263 V. Indicated by two flashes of the red LED inside the battery charger.
PROTECTION AGAINST UNDERVOLTAGE: It occurs if the network voltage drops under 170 V, the system is restored
automatically if the voltage exceeds 180 V. Indicated by 1 flash of the red LED inside the battery charger.
DATA BUS CONNECTION JP5:
The NE324 module is equipped with a DATA BUS communication interface that allows to connect remote devices.
On the data bus is possible to connect a control panel and a 230V relay module.
TANK LEVEL SENSOR CONNECTION JP9:
The NE324 module is fitted with an input JP9 for a 4/4 tank level sensor;
The level is displayed on the control panel connected to the system.
RELAY MANAGEMENT RE4 - RE5
The RE4 external light output and RE5 pump output can only be controlled if a control panel is connected to the data bus
line. In the absence of a control panel, the relays are always closed.
REDUCTION CONSUMPTION OF RELAY
Only in the absence of a control panel the RE4 and RE5 relays can be disabled to reduce current consumption.
Do a short circuit between pins 1 and 2 of connector JP9 (tank connection) to disable RE5 pump and between pins 1 and 3
to disable RE4 external light.
Consumption of the NE324 module from the service battery with the relays disabled goes from 100mA to 16mA.
