Tool Changing (Fig. C–G)
Take care that the dust protection cap 4 is not
damaged when changing tools.
SDS-Plus Tools
The SDS-plus tool is designed to be freely movable.
This causes eccentricity when the machine is off-load.
However, the drill automatically centres itself during
operation. This does not affect drilling precision.
Inserting (Fig.
)
C
Clean and lightly oil the tool before inserting.
Insert the dust-free tool into the tool holder 3 with
twisting until it latches.
The tool locks itself. Check the locking by pulling on
the tool.
Removing (Fig.
)
D
Pull the locking sleeve 5 to the rear (a) and hold while
removing the tool (b) .
Srewdriver Bits (Fig.
For screwdriver bits, use the SDS-plus adapter 14 (op-
tional accessory).
Tools without SDS-plus
Do not use tools without SDS-plus for hammer
drilling or chiselling!
Tool Insertion (Fig.
Hold the holding ring 16 firmly and turn the front sleeve
15 until the tool holder is open wide enough.
Insert the tool, hold firmly the holding ring 16 and turn
the sleeve 15 in the direction of the arrow until it latch-
es. Then clamp the tool by continuing to turn forcefully
until ratcheting sounds can clearly be heard.
Check the seating by pulling on the tool.
Note:
After opening the tool holder to the stop, it can happen
during the subsequent closing that the functional
ratcheting sound is heard and the tool holder does not
close.
By turning the sleeve 15 opposite to the direction of
the arrow, this ratcheting sound is switched off and the
tool holder can be closed.
For screwdriver bits, insert a commercially available bit
holder. Stick the screwdriver bits into the bit holder.
Use only screwdriver bits that fit the screw heads.
Screwdriver bits may also be inserted without a bit
holder.
Tool Removal (Fig.
G
To remove a tool from the quick clamping replacement
drill chuck, hold firmly the holding ring 16 and turn the
front sleeve 15 in the direction of the arrow until the
tool can be removed.
System Accessories
Refer to the Bosch Catalogue for insertion tools.
A list of accessories can be found at the end of these
instructions.

Putting into Operation

Ensure that the mains voltage is correct!
The voltage of the power source must agree with the
value given on the nameplate of the machine. Ma-
chines designated for 230 V can also be operated with
220 V.
Switching On/Off
To switch on the machine, press the on/off switch 8 .
Lock the depressed on/off switch 8 by pressing the
lock-on button 7 .
For reasons of safety, on/off switch 8 cannot be
locked with locking button 7 in left rotation.
To switch off the machine, release the on/off switch
8 or push and then release it.
Working Instructions (Fig. H–K)
Auxiliary Handle (Fig.
For safety reasons, the machine should be
s
used only with the auxiliary handle 12.
By rotating the auxiliary handle 12 to a comfortable
position, a fatigue-free and therefore safe working po-
sition can be achieved.
To rotate the auxiliary handle 12 , first release the han-
dle by turning it counter-clockwise.
Then retighten the auxiliary handle 12.
Overload Clutch
If the drill bit becomes jammed or caught, the drive to
the drill spindle is interrupted. Because of the forces
that occur as a result, always hold the machine se-
curely with both hands and take a firm stance.
Depth Stop (Fig.
Loosen the winged screw 17 on the auxiliary handle
12. Adjust the drilling depth t on the depth stop 13.
Retighten the winged screw.
