Assembly/Disassembly

NOTE: Follow these instructions carefully. The quality and performance of the rebuilt Minolta Di 250/350 Imaging Unit will depend
on your workmanship, as well as the condition of the used imaging unit (IU) being rebuilt. Be sure to read and understand each
rebuild step prior to beginning each step.
1. Position IU so the OPC Drum Shutter is facing toward you.
2. Remove the 8 Phillips screws, 4 from the Left IU Frame (A) and 4 from the Right IU Frame (B).
3. Remove the Right IU Frame (B).
4. Remove Cleaning Unit (top cover) (C) by lifting up slightly and pulling to right.
Caution: Cleaning Unit contains waste toner.
5. Grab the underside of Left IU Frame (A) and pull to left, removing OPC Drum (D), Charge Corona (Q), and IU frame.
6. From the underside of Cleaning Unit (C), remove the 3 Phillips screws, Drum Cleaning Blade (E), and Dust Shield (F).
7. Vacuum out the cleaning unit, then install new Drum Cleaning Blade, replace Dust Shield and reinstall 3 screws.
8. Caution: Before vacuuming Auger Section (G) in step 9, please take the following precautions to prevent electrical damage to the ATDC sensor (H):
From the underside of the Developer Section (I) remove the screw and disconnect ATDC sensor (H), then remove 3 screws and Electrical Connector
and its Protective Cover (J). Be sure ATDC sensor and surrounding cartridge housing is free of toner build-up.
9. Remove Developer Top Cover's (K) 2 Phillips screws and Mylar washers, and Foam Seals (L), and vacuum out remaining starter material from Auger
Section (G) and Magnetic Roller (M). Caution: Do not touch magnetic roller as contamination can adversely affect performance and image quality.
Remove Magnetic Roller and replace Developer Spacer Rollers (R). Re-install Magnetic Roller.
10. Locate Reset Fuse (N), the larger/longer of the two piggyback components on electrical connector. Cut off existing reset fuse leads at a point 10-
15mm from the plastic connector housing, and remove remaining insulating tube. NOTE: Fuse must be replaced to ensure proper initialization of
rebuilt imaging unit. Caution: Use only a low-wattage soldering iron (35 watts) for this installation procedure. Excessive heat can damage fuse.
11. Solder new fuse leads onto existing leads.
12. Insulate exposed fuse leads with electrical tape.
13. Reinstall ATDC sensor (H), Electrical Connector and its Protective Cover (J) to underside of Developer Section (I).
14. Evenly distribute Starter provided (200g) into Developer Section (I) while rotating Auger system (G).
15. Install new developer unit Foam Seals (L), then re-attach Developer Section Cover (K), using screws and washers removed in step 9. NOTE: Be sure
sealing mechanism (O) stays properly seated (with the flat side down) in the toner supply port.
16. Re-attach left IU Frame (A) and Drum Shutter (P), using 2 Phillips screws in lower holes only. NOTE: Do not tighten screws yet.
17. Clean Charge Corona (Q) and reinstall it against left IU Frame alignment pins.
18. Install new OPC Drum (still enclosed in black protective wrap) into Left IU Frame.
19. Reinstall right IU Frame (B) using 2 Phillips screws (in lower holes), while aligning side with Charge Corona (Q) and OPC Drum alignment pins.
NOTE: Do not tighten screws yet.
20. Remove protective black wrap from new OPC Drum. Lubricate the OPC by applying a light dusting of fresh toner on the surface. Use caution not to
contaminate Charge Corona (Q) with toner.
21. Lubricate Drum Cleaning Blade (E) edge with fresh toner, then reinstall Cleaning Unit (C) by first inserting it into the Left IU Frame (A) mounting guides.
22. Flex Right IU Frame (B) outward and insert Cleaning Unit (C) by guiding the toner recovery chute into the Developer Top Cover (K).
23. Reinstall the remaining Phillips screws (removed in step 2) into the top Right (B) and Left (A) IU Frames (2 screws per side), and tighten all 8
screws (four per side).
24. Manually rotate OPC Drum (D) to avoid Drum Cleaning Blade flip during cartridge initialization (see diagram for rotation direction).
25. Flex OPC Drum Shutter (P) in middle and reinstall into right side pivot.
26. Prior to installing cartridge, shake cartridge from side-to-side ten times.
