1. Remove interior packaging material.
2. Carefully remove the tape from the top and bottom of
the lamp.
3. Plug the cordset into a grounded wall outlet, and
TEST UNIT PRIOR TO MOUNTING. DO NOT use
grounding adapters or remove the grounding pin from the
plug. Either practice is unsafe and may prevent proper
ignition of the lamp.
4. The Monitor® may be shelf or wall mounted. For
Wall Mounting: Knock out the two key hole slots in the
rear wall. Mount, using two #10 round head or #8 pan
head screws of sufficient length, into studs or into secure
wall anchors. Test to insure that the unit is firmly in place.
For Shelf Mounting: Place on a shelf which provides
adequate support for the Monitor and attach to the wall by
following the wall mounting instructions above.
5. The filaments of the HYPER-GERMICIDAL™ LAMP
should glow whenever the cordset is plugged in - even
while the doors are open. This is NOT HARMFUL TO
USERS! The special ballast is designed to keep the
filaments warm at all times.
WARNING! DON NOT EVER substitute any other
ballast. This ballast has been engineered specifically for
the Monitor. Other ballasts may result in faulty operation
and possible over-exposure to ultra-violet (UV) radiation.
6. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SUBSTITUTE ANY OTHER
LAMP IN THIS GERMICIDAL MONITOR. This quartz
germicidal lamp has a specific, controlled power output
and has a non-standard length. Run through 10 cycles to
"condition" the lamp before placing in service.
7. Place glasses with temples fully extended, with their
interior nose pieces facing the HYPER GERMICIDAL
Product that works.

LAMP, up to 6 on a shelf. Place goggles with nose piece
toward lamp, up to 5 on a shelf. See illustration inside
Monitor for proper placement. Do not overload.
8. Due to aging characteristics of UV radiation, products
subject to UV rays should be inspected for signs of
deterioration (cracking, clouding, loss of sheen) and if any
are found, IMMEDIATELY replaced with new products.
9. Close door securely. Turn the timer knob fully
clockwise until it stops to get a full 6 minutes of exposure
time, or stop at 5 to get its rated exposure time. The indi-
cator below it should glow with a blue light confirming
that the lamp has lit. An authorized person should
occasionally check that the blue glow is visible during
operation.
10. WARNING! EXPOSURE TO THE GERMICIDAL
LAMP'S RAYS MAY BE HARMFUL TO EYES AND SKIN.
DO NOT VIEW LAMP WHILE FULLY ENERGIZED. The
doors are provided with concealed interlocks. NEVER
ATTEMPT TO BYPASS INTERLOCKS.
11. SELLSTROM'S HYPER-GERMICIDAL LAMP has its
UV output peaked at the optimum germicidal wave length
of 2,537 Angstroms.
12. For the germicidal lamp to be completely effective,
surface debris must be removed from goggles and
glasses. Use of Sellstrom's S23469 and S23470
Sellstrom's Sta-Clear Cleaning Stations are strongly

recommended. Simply add water to activate special lens
cleaning solutions in our Sellstrom Sta-Clear Tissues.
The lens cleaning tissues will not scratch polycarbonate
lenses and they are treated to help prevent fogging. DO
NOT USE TISSUES ON FOG-FREE (LFP) LENSES. LFP
lenses, by design, are less scratch resistant and care
should be taken in cleaning those lenses.
