12. precautionary measures
GB
• Warning! Users with implanted electronic
equipment, such as pacemakers and
intracardiac defibrillators, must not use
the CEFAR EASY. Pregnant women should
not use the CEFAR EASY during the first tri-
mester, and should always consult a doctor,
midwife or physiotherapist prior to use.
• Do not stimulate on the front or sides of the
neck, since a drop in blood pressure can
occur.
• Do not use the CEFAR EASY if you are con-
nected to, or in the vicinity of, high-frequen-
cy surgical or industrial equipment. This
may cause burn injuries on the skin under
the electrodes, as well as problems with the
stimulator.
• Observe caution when using the CEFAR
EASY in the immediate vicinity of cellular
phones that are switched on.
• Do not use the CEFAR EASY in the direct
vicinity of short-wave or microwave equip-
ment, since this may affect the output pow-
er of the stimulator.
• Keep out of reach from children.
• The stimulator should only be used with
skin electrodes intended for nerve and
muscle stimulation.
• The electrodes should only be placed on
healthy skin. Avoid skin irritation by ensur-
ing good contact between electrodes and
skin. hypersensitivity can occur in rare cas-
es. if skin irritation should occur, treatment
with the CEFAR EASY should be temporar-
ily discontinued. if condition persists, seek
medical advice.

• Switch off stimulation before removing the
electrodes from the skin. if an electrode
comes off, shut off the stimulation before
picking it up. Getting electrical stimulation
through the fingers is unpleasant but not
harmful.
• Exercise caution when using electrodes
smaller than 5 cm², as the current density
in some cases exceeds 2 mA rms/cm² and
increases risk for burn injuries.
• Be careful with stimulating in the
heart region.
• CEFAR Medical AB does not take any re-
sponsibility for any electrode placements
other than recommended.
• Muscle soreness may occur after stimula-
tion with CEFAR EASY, but usually disap-
pears within a week.
• Only Cefar accessories should be used with
the CEFAR EASY.
• Use the CEFAR EASY only as stated in the
operating instructions.
• Inspect the equipment prior to use.
• Never open the battery lid during
stimulation.
• This stimulator meets the requirements of
Mdd 93/42/EEC, including the EMC
requirements. This, however, is no guaran-
tee that the equipment will not be affected
by electromagnetic disturbances.
• Observe caution if you use the stimula-
tor while driving, unintentional stimulation
changes might extract focus from the driv-
ing and create a hazardous situation.
