LIGHT TUBE
– LED-lamp with radio controlled projection clock
• Slide the RCC ON/OFF switch in the battery compartment to the position ON.
• 0:00 appears on the display (projection).
• The clock will scan the DCF frequency signal.
• When the signal is received successfully after 10 minutes, the radio controlled
time, the DCF symbol and OK appear in the display. In Daylight Saving Time
"DST" is shown on the LCD.
• If the reception fails, scanning stops and will be repeated again every 3 hours
for 10 minutes.
• Manual initialization can be helpful. Press WAVE/SET sensor button.
• The clock automatically scans the time signal between 2.00 and 3.00 a.m.
everyday to maintain accurate timing. If the reception fails, it will repeat again
four times every hour.
• In case the clock cannot detect the DCF-signal (for example due to distur-
bances, transmitting distance, etc.), the time can be set manually.
• The clock will then work as a normal quartz clock.
• To deactivate the radio control function slide the RCC ON/OFF switch to OFF.
Radio controlled time reception:
The time base for the radio controlled time is a Caesium Atomic Clock operated
by the Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig which has a time devi-
ation of less than one second in one million years. The time is coded and trans-
mitted from Mainflingen near Frankfurt via frequency signal DCF-77 (77.5 kHz)
and has a transmitting range of approximately 1500 km. The time is coded and
transmitted from Mainflingen near Frankfurt via frequency signal DCF-77 (77.5
kHz) and has a transmitting range of approximately 1500 km. Your radio-con-
trolled clock receives this signal and converts it to show the precise time in sum-
mer or wintertime. The quality of the reception depends greatly on the geo-
graphic location. In normal cases, there should be no reception problems within a
1,500 km radius around Frankfurt.
Please take note of the following:
• Recommended distance to any interfering sources like computer monitors or
TV sets is a minimum of 1.5 - 2 metres.
• Within ferro-concrete rooms (basements, superstructures), the received signal
is naturally weakened. In extreme cases, please place the unit close to a win-
dow and/or point its front or back towards the Frankfurt transmitter.
• During night-time, the atmospheric disturbances are usually less severe and
reception is possible in most cases. A single daily reception is adequate to keep
the accuracy deviation below 1 second.

4. Operation

4.1 Manual setting

• Press and hold WAVE/SET sensor button in normal mode (time display) for
2 seconds.
• "0" appears on the display.
• Press "+" or "-" sensor button to adjust the time zone (+/- 1 hour).
• The time zone is used for countries where the DCF signal can be received but
the time zone is different from the German time (e.g. +1=one hour later).
• Press WAVE/SET sensor button to make the desired settings. The setting
sequence is shown as follows: day-of-week language, year, date, time, 12 HR or
24 HR system (PM appears after 12 h on the display) and °C or °F as tempera-
ture unit. Adjust with "+" or "-" button.
• Press and hold "+" or "-" sensor button, you will enter fast mode.
• Day-of-week language: English (EN), German (GE), Italian (IT) and French (FR).
• The instrument will quit the setting mode, if there is no button used within 60
seconds.
• The manually set time will be overwritten by the DCF time when the signal is
received successfully. Make sure that the position of the RCC ON/OFF switch is ON.
4.2 Manual setting of alarm clock
• Press "+" or "-" sensor button in normal mode.
• The alarm time and AL are flashing on the display.
• Press "+" or "-" button to adjust the alarm time.
• Press and hold "+" or "-" sensor button, you will enter fast mode.
• Press ALARM sensor button. Zz appears on the display. The alarm is activated.
• Once the alarm starts to ring, you can stop the alarm by pressing any button.
• You can activate the snooze function by pressing the SNOOZE/DIMMER sensor
button.
• The alarm will be interrupted for 5 minutes.
• Zz is flashing during snooze function.
• Press ALARM sensor button to deactivate the alarm. Zz disappears on the display.
4.3 Projection and light
• The projection clock and lamp are positioned opposite the end of the cylinder.
• The cylinder can be rotated 330° and tilted backwards. This allows the pro-
jection/light to be directed onto a wall, ceiling or the projection screen at the base
of the appliance.
• Holding the MODE sensor button is it possible to turn the projection clock on or off.
• Press the DISPLAY/FLIP button to turn the image by 180°.
