Moving toward or away from the fence will
require you to ERASE by pressing the
11 button. Once the object is located,
pinpoint the object by slowly moving the
locator towards and away from the fence
to get the peak output.

Note: If the search distance moving parallel
to the fence is too great, you may have to
ERASE due to the magnetic eld strength
inconsistencies in the fence itself.

Locating Near a Steel Fence Using
SMART +, SMART -
erase
MODE
In the Northern Hemisphere use the
SMART + Mode and in the Southern
Hemisphere use the SMART - Mode.
When using the Smart Mode, hold the
locator at a 45° angle referenced to the
Earth's surface. Position the locator tip
close to the fence and walk parallel along
the fence line sweeping the locator either
parallel or perpendicular to the fence.
You can continue searching by moving
away from the fence and repeat walking
parallel to the fence line while sweeping
the locator either parallel or perpendicular
to the fence.
Once an object has been detected, use the
method described under Field Operation to
pinpoint the object.
