Receiver Diversity operation is possible with the following
MULTIPLEX M-PCM receivers:

3.1 Method of Working
Two MULTIPLEX M-PCM receivers (
cy band are inter-connected using the Diversity lead for RX-
SYNTH M-PCM receivers (# 8 5070), connected to the "B/D"
sockets.
Both receivers operate on the same frequency and receive sig-
nals simultaneously. Invalid data which is picked up is swapped
with the other receiver via the Diversity lead.
No switching between the receivers takes place; instead both
receivers operate simultaneously and in parallel. The signals
picked up by the two receivers are combined in real-time. There
is no delay in transferring data to servos, ...
The two receiver aerials should always be orientated differently,
as this minimises directional aerial effects and thereby sub-
stantially improves the reception performance.
This means that good reception is maintained regardless of the
model's attitude.
In short, Diversity mode provides a useful additional margin of
safety.
Receiver Diversity mode is particularly recommended for use in
large-scale model aircraft.
It is possible to set up Receiver Diversity by combining a twelve-
channel M-PCM receiver with a seven-channel M-PCM receiver,
i.e. the number of servo channels is irrelevant.
Servos can be connected to both receivers: the servo signals (1,
2, ..., x) are generated in parallel by both receivers. However,
certain conditions apply to this; they are described in detail un-
der
5.2.2.
3.2 What are the limitations of Receiver Diversity?
Receiver Diversity cannot help to combat interference which
is caused by on-board problems such as inadequately
suppressed speed controllers, electric motors (brush spar-
king) or ignition systems.
Receiver Diversity cannot help if same-channel or adjacent-
channel interference occurs.

ONNECTING THE
Connect one end of the Diversity lead to (one of) the "B/D"
socket of the one M-PCM receiver. Connect the other end of the
Diversity lead to (one of) the "B/D" socket on the other receiver.
! Maintain correct polarity: take care not to insert the con-
nectors the wrong way round!
! The Diversity lead must not be extended!

5.1 Deploying the two receiver aerials
Arrange the aerials of the two receivers at right-angles to each
other:
Deploy the first aerial inside the fuselage, or tension it from the
fuselage to the fin. The other aerial should be installed inside or
under one wing.
If possible, use a whip aerial. If you wish to do this, please read
the information in the section entitled "Installation Notes" in the
Operating Instructions supplied with the RX-7/9/12-SYNTH DS
M-PCM / RX-9-SYNTH DS M-PCM compact receiver.
The aerials must not be crossed over, nor deployed too close to
each other: keep the two aerials at least 10 cm apart.
5.2 Connecting the receiver power supply
5.2.1 ... if servos are connected to only one receiver
If you have connected servos to only one receiver, power is fed
to the other receiver (with no servos) via the Diversity lead.
! Caution: the receiver battery or other power supply must
always be connected to the receiver to which the servos are
also connected.
5.2.2 ... if servos are connected to both receivers
If you have connected servos to both receivers, then both recei-
vers must:
either be powered by a shared battery or other power supply
via a Y-lead, or
be powered by two separate batteries or other power sup-
plies.
! Caution: in the latter case unwanted balancing currents
would flow through the Diversity lead; to prevent this hap-
pening, the red wire (operating voltage positive) of the
Diversity lead must be disabled: carefully dislodge the
plastic retaining lug in the UNI socket and withdraw the red
wire. Insulate the bare contact which terminates the red
wire.
! Note: ensure all power supplies are in good condition
If you wish your model to fly reliably and safely, it is absolutely
essential that you install airborne power supplies which are ade-
quate for the task, and maintain them in excellent order:
Use only high-quality receiver batteries of sufficient capacity,
condition (balance) them carefully and at all times keep them
fully charged.
Ensure that cables are of adequate cross-section, keep them
as short as possible, and install the absolute minimum of
connectors in the circuit.
Use high-quality switch harnesses exclusively.
