STEP 3
Connect electronic devices to the ALWAYS ON outlets.
ALWAYS ON OUTLETS
These outlets are not switchable. They provide continuous power for
devices that require it, such as hard-drive–based electronics or timed-
recording devices.
The following electronic devices should be plugged into the ALWAYS ON
outlets:
IN HOME OFFICE
Modem
Wireless router
Fax machine
External hard drive
IN HOME ENTERTAINMENT
Cable/set-top box
DVR/TiVo
VCR
STEP 4
Plug the Smart Surge 10's power cord into the wall receptacle.
OPERATION
ENERGY SAVER SWITCH
The Energy Saver Switch allows the user to select between two modes
of operation: "Energy Saver On" mode reduces standby power waste
by providing power to the Energy Saver outlets only when the device
connected to the MASTER CONTROL outlet is in use. "Surge Protection
Only " mode bypasses the Energy Saver function, maintaining continuous
power to all outlets.
ENERGY SAVER ON MODE
In this mode, the ENERGY SAVER outlets will be turned on only when
the MASTER CONTROL outlet device is turned on. When the MASTER
CONTROL outlet device goes into standby or sleep mode, or is turned
off, the devices connected to the ENERGY SAVER outlets automatically
shut off.
SURGE PROTECTION ONLY MODE
In this mode, devices on the ENERGY SAVER outlets can be used
independent of the MASTER CONTROL outlet device. This function will
maintain continuous power to the ENERGY SAVER outlets.
