OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION
- This battery charger must be fully assembled before operating. Failure to do so may result in risk of injury.
TO CHARGE BATTERIES
Make connections to the battery per the instructions in preceeding section of this manual.
Turn CHARGE SELECTOR switch to 12 LOW position. If a higher charge rate is desired for 12 volt batteries, advance CHARGE SELECTOR
switch until desired charge rate is achieved. Do not leave a battery that is being charged unattended for a long period of time. Do not charge
a large battery longer than 4 hours without checking state of charge; a medium battery 3 hours; and a small battery 2 hours. See above table
for further guidelines.
USE OF INSTRUMENT PANEL
CHARGE SELECTOR SWITCH - This switch will control the voltage and current the charger will provide.
12 HI POSITION - Use this position for continuous charging batteries at currents up to the marked continuous duty rating, and for starting
assist on 12 volt vehicles.
12 MED POSITION - Use this position for continuous charging of lawntractors and large motorcycle batteries. Follow battery manufacture's
instructions for charge rate and length of charge.
12 LOW POSITION - Use this position for continuous charging small motorcycle batteries. Follow manufacture's instructions for charge rate
and length of charge. Initial charge rate may be higher than desired. Always check charge rate after approximately 10 minutes of charge.
6 VOLT POSITION - Use this position for continuous charging batteries at currents up to the marked continuous duty rating, and for starting
assist on 6 volt vehicles.
BOOST STARTING
Turn off all lights and accessories in the vehicle.
Connect the charger to battery per previous instructions. Fast charge battery at least five minutes. Put the switch in the "12 HI" position.
Start the car with the charger connected to the battery.
NOTE: Do not crank car more than 20 seconds in any five minute period. While waiting for starter to cool, allow charger to continue to charge
the battery. Turn the switch to OFF and remove the AC power cord from the electric outlet before disconnecting the DC clamps.
