choosing a location for the antenna
The antenna can be mounted on a roof, in an attic, on a rail/deck, or on
an exterior wall. Note that signal may be diminished if the antenna is
installed in an attic.
Before installing the antenna, decide on the best location to install the
antenna for both safety and performance. Choose a location in which the
antenna maintains a minimum clearance of 3' from power lines, wires,
trees, or other obstructions and in which the antenna can point toward the
broadcast tower(s) of stations that you would like to receive. For a listing
of likely channels available in your area as well as the direction of the
corresponding broadcast tower(s), go online to dtv.gov/maps.

Setup
1. Place the foot in the chosen location for the antenna. Keep in mind that
the pipe will later need to be adjusted to a vertical position, and orient
the foot accordingly.
2. Determine appropriate mounting screws (not provided) for securely
mounting the foot to the mounting surface, and mount the foot in the
chosen location with multiple screws.
3. Align the pivot hole in the pipe with the pivot holes in the foot.
4. Install a washer on a screw, and insert the screw through the aligned pivot
holes in the pipe and foot. Install a washer on the other end of the screw,
and loosely thread a nut on the screw.
5. Using a level, adjust the pipe until vertical; then, align the leveling hole
in the pipe with the nearest leveling hole in the foot.
6. Install a washer on a screw, and insert the screw through the aligned
leveling holes in the pipe and foot. Install a washer on the other end of
the screw, and thread a nut on the screw. Check that the pipe is still in a
vertical position.
7. Tighten the two installed nuts to 30–40 in-lbs.
8. Set the antenna head on the pipe. The mount feature of the antenna head
should rest on the top of the pipe.
9. Make sure that the "UP" arrow directly above the top lip of the mount
feature is pointing upward.
10. Position the antenna head so that the front of the antenna is pointing
toward the broadcast tower(s) of stations that you want to receive. To
determine the direction of the broadcast tower(s) from your current
location, go online to dtv.gov/maps.
11. Place the mast clamp around the pipe, and align the holes in the mast
clamp with the holes in the mount feature.
12. Install a washer on each of two screws, and insert a screw through each
aligned hole in the mast clamp and mount feature.
13. Tighten the two screws to 10–15 in-lbs.
