Ultrasonic level sensor - Digital version
1 Introduction
These instructions give information about installing the ultrasonic level
sensor.
The ultrasonic level sensor measures the liquid level in tanks without
making any contact. The sensor is suitable for drinking water, fuel (both
diesel oil and petrol) and dirty water (both black and grey water). The
sensor does not work when applied on metal tanks.
Together with the Vetus display instrument the sensors form a tank man-
ager system. The display instrument required must be purchased sepa-
rately (Art. code: SENSORD).
Read the instructions supplied with the display instrument before using,
installing and setting the tank manager
When the power is switched on the LED on top of the sensor will always
flash green!
1.1 Included in the delivery
- 1 Ultrasonic level sensor; including connecting cable, length 1.4 m
- 1 Packing
- 5 Fixing screws
- 1 UTP splitter

2 Installation
Cut a fitting hole in the highest horizontal surface of the tank at least 5
cm (2") away from walls and wash bulkheads as shown in the drawing.
The sensor has a 5-hole SAE fitting flange. Clean the inside of the tank
after cutting the fitting hole.
Fit the sensor using the packing and screws provided so as to obtain a
vapour-proof seal. If screws other than those supplied are used the maxi-
mum diameter allowed is 5 mm (3/16")!
Connect the sensors to the display meter. See the manual supplied with
the display instrument for this.

4 Problem solving

Problem: The LED on the top of the sensor does not flash, or only some-
times green.
Cause:
The voltage from the power supply is
too low.
The sensor is fitted crooked in the tank. Position the sensor horizon-
The hole in the tank is too small so that
the flange at the bottom of the sensor
is resting on the tank wall.
The sensor is dirty on the bottom.
The tank is higher than the maximum
height that can be measured.
