Instructions specific to hazardous area installations
GB
Model numbers covered: S183**L/F***/***; S187**L/F***/***; S189**/F***/***
("*" indicates options in construction, function and materials)
The following instructions apply to equipment covered by certificate number Sira 06ATEX1115X:
1. The equipment may be used with flammable gases and vapours with apparatus groups IIA, IIB, and IIC, with
temperature classes T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, and T6. Note: The enclosure may be at the higher of the process or ambient
temperature. The temperature class of the installation will be determined from the higher of the process or ambient
temperature.
2. Installation of this equipment shall be carried out by suitably trained personnel, in accordance with the applicable
code of practice.
3. Inspection and maintenance of this equipment shall be carried out by suitably trained personnel, in accordance with
the applicable code of practice.
4. No maintenance or repair of the flameproof enclosure is permitted.
5. The enclosure must not be opened when the equipment is electrically energised.
6. The certification of this equipment relies upon the following materials used in its construction:
Enclosure (Partition Wall):
If the equipment is likely to come into contact with aggressive substances, it is the responsibility of the user to take
suitable precautions that prevent it from being adversely affected, thus ensuring that the type of protection is not
compromised.
Aggressive substances:
Suitable precautions:
Note: The metallic alloy used for the enclosure material may be at the accessible surface of this equipment; in the
event of rare accidents, ignition sources due to impact and friction sparks could occur.
7. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure:
(a) That only suitably certified cable entry devices will be utilised when connecting this equipment.
(b) That suitable temperature rated cable is used. The cable entry temperature may exceed 70°C.
(c) That the joint requirements between the switch housing and vessel are compatible with the process media.
(d) That the joint tightness is correct for the joint material used.
(e) The float is protected from impact or friction, or electrostatic charging from fast flowing non-conductive fluids,
which could generate an ignition source.
8. Technical data:
(a) Coding:

(b) Pressure:

9. Special conditions:
(a) Partition wall may not be stainless steel, (see materials of construction above), therefore the product shall not be
subjected to environmental stresses that might adversely affect the partition wall.
(b) The float or mounting flange may be a non-metallic material. The user must ensure suitability for the application
and not ignition capable due to electrostatic charging. Do not rub with a dry cloth.
(c) Only screws and fittings provided by the manufacturer can be attached to the housing.
