Brushes
• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible sparking
• Regularly check the condition of the brushes and replace if worn
• Always replace both brushes at the same time. A spare pair of brushes is supplied
• If you are in any doubt over the fitting of the new brushes DO NOT attempt, instead have the
repair carried out at an authorised Silverline service centre
To replace the brushes:
1. Unscrew the two motor cover screws and remove the Motor Cover (18) (Fig. X)
2. Slide the brush housing out of the tool. (Fig. XI)
3. Disconnect the electrical connection from the brush (Fig. XII)
4. Remove the brush from the housing and replace with a new brush (Fig. XIII)
5. Refit brush housing to tool
6. Repeat for second brush
7. Refit Motor Cover
