Use and precaution of use
Before any use, the operator must determine the cup to be used, by
referring to the allocation book A .
Position the fi rst coil of the shock absorber spring onto the lower
cup 1a .
Turn the shock absorber so that the coil is in uniform contact with the
cup 1b . Position the two upper claws onto the coil available 1c .
When fi tting the Macpherson strut, the operator may guide the claws
by maintaining them using the lateral arms 2 .
Once the claws set to the spring diameter and in place inside it, the
arm tightening screws 2 must be locked.
Never place your hands on the spring when fi tting the claws.
The operator must ensure the spring is set properly in the claws
before starting compression.
If the spring is not placed properly at the bottom of the claw as in
photo 3 , choose appropriate claws.
During compression, the operator must not bring the spring up to
joining the coils.
Compression is suffi cient when the shock absorber is free inside the
spring.
Before removing the upper cup of the Macpherson strut, check the
latter is free, and is no longer under the spring's pressure.
When removing the upper cup, the operator must always beware
potential falling of the shock absorber.
