2. Disengage the Chain Brake (32) by pulling the Front Hand Guard (9) back towards the Front Handle (10)
3. Remove the Sprocket Cover by unscrewing the two Guide Bar Securing Nuts (35) using the Spark Plug

4. With the Sprocket Cover removed, carefully position the Saw Chain around the Sprocket (25) which is
located behind the Clutch (26)
Note: Ensure the Saw Chain is installed in the correct rotation direction (Fig I).
5. Install the Guide Bar by positioning the two Guide Bar Locating Studs (29) through the Guide Bar Locating
Hole (30)
6. With the Guide Bar loosely attached to the chain saw, fit the chain to the groove round the Guide Bar
(Image A), ensuring it is able to move relatively freely when turned by hand
Note: It may be necessary to loosely screw on the Guide Bar Securing Nuts whilst fitting the Saw Chain to the
Guide Bar.
7. Refit the Sprocket Cover ensuring that the Tensioning Lug (31) (Image B) locates into the Tension Lug

Locating Hole (30), and the Chain Brake fits over the Clutch
8. Screw the Guide Bar Securing Nuts loosely into place until resistance is felt
9. Adjust the chain tension by turning the Tensioning Screw (36) until the chain sits snug to the bottom of the
Guide Bar
10. Tighten both Guide Bar Securing Nuts firmly (12-15Nm)
11. Check for smooth rotation of the Saw Chain. Loosen the Guide Bar and readjust if necessary
Note: A new saw chain will expand when first used. Check and readjust the chain tension frequently, as a
loose chain can easily derail and incorrect chain tension leads to premature wear, damage, and encourages
dangerous kickback.
Preparing 2-stroke mix
Note: This chain saw is powered by a 2-stroke engine that requires a petrol/oil mixture as fuel.
WARNING: ALWAYS use dedicated fully synthetic 2-stroke oil. DO NOT use regular engine oil for 2-stroke mix.
1. Use the supplied 2-stroke Fuel Mixing Bottle (6) to measure the required amount of oil, see mixing chart
below

WARNING: DO NOT pour oil directly into the Fuel Tank (20). The 2-stroke mix needs to be prepared and
thoroughly mixed in a separate container, prior to being filled into the chainsaw.
2. Pour the required amount of 2-stroke oil followed by unleaded petrol into the Fuel Mixing Bottle, close and
shake until thoroughly mixed
Note: 2-stroke mix must not be stored long-term. ONLY mix the amount required for immediate consumption.
Refer to the 'Storing Fuel' section for further information.
Filling with fuel
WARNING: Danger of fire and burn injuries, take extra care when fuelling this machine.
WARNING: NEVER fill with fuel whilst the engine is running. Switch off the engine and wait until it has cooled
before refuelling.
WARNING: ONLY refuel the chainsaw outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
WARNING: ALWAYS open the fuel tank carefully, to allow potential pressure build-up inside the tank to release
slowly. Never open the fuel tank while the engine is running.
Always use extreme care when handling fuel. Fuel is highly flammable
Never attempt to fuel the chain saw if the fuel system components are damaged or are leaking
Never attempt to refuel the engine while it is running or still warm; allow it to cool before fuelling
Never smoke or light fires near the line chainsaw or fuels
Always transport and store fuels in an approved container
Never place flammable material close to the engine exhaust
Do not use petrol which contains ethanol or methanol as it may damage the fuel lines and other engine
parts
Mix only enough fuel for immediate needs. If fuel must be stored longer than 30 days, it should first be
treated with a stabilizer or similar product
To fill the fuel tank:
1. Premix the fuel in a suitable 2-stroke fuel mixing bottle, following the guidelines under 'Preparing
2-stroke mix'
2. Place the unit on a secure flat surface and wipe away debris from around the Fuel Cap (21)

3. Unscrew the Fuel Cap and pour the mixture into the tank with the aid of a funnel
Note: Be careful not to spill any of the fuel mixture. If this happens, wipe the spill with a clean rag.
Start the engine at least three metres away from the area where the Fuel Tank has been filled in order to
avoid risk of fire
Filling with chain oil
WARNING: Take care not to spill any oil. Thoroughly clean away spilled chain oil, even if bio-degradable chain
oil is used. Be aware of slipping hazards.
1. Clean the area around the cap of the Chain Oil Reservoir (7) and wipe away all debris from the area
2. Open the Chain Oil Reservoir cap by turning it anticlockwise
3. Fill with an appropriate chain lubricant. DO NOT overfill
4. Immediately refit the Chain Oil Reservoir cap and close by turning it clockwise until hand-tight and sealed
Checking the chain tension
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when handling the Saw Chain (24).
When properly tensioned, the Saw Chain should sit loosely but snug inside the Guide Bar (22)
The chain should be tight enough so the drive links stay engaged in the Guide Bar when pulling on the top
of the chain (Fig. II). There must be no sag at the bottom of the Guide Bar (Fig. III)
If the Saw Chain sags, or if drive links can be pulled out of the Guide Bar, adjust the chain tension as
outlined in 'Adjusting chain tension' in the 'Maintenance' section of this manual
WARNING: Saw Chains can also be over-tightened. Tightening the Saw Chain too tightly risks rupture during
operation. There should be some play in the Saw Chain, but not enough for the drive links to leave the Guide
Bar. The chain must ALWAYS move freely and easily on the Guide Bar.
Testing the chain brake
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when touching the Saw Chain (24), to avoid injury.
WARNING: The chain brake is an important safety device of this chainsaw, as it protects the user in the event
of kickback by stopping the Saw Chain rotation. The operator MUST ensure its correct operation before EVERY
use.

Ensure the engine is NOT running whilst performing the following checks:
1. Check manual chain brake operation by pushing the Front Hand Guard (9) forward, in the direction of the

Guide Bar. The Saw Chain must not turn
2. Release the chain brake by pulling the Front Hand Guard towards the Front Handle (10), until a 'click' is
heard. The Saw Chain can be moved freely again
3. Hold the chainsaw horizontally. With the chainsaw off, Release your hand from the Front Handle and allow
the tip of the Guide Bar to 'fall' onto a tree stump or sample piece of wood, at a distance of no greater than
2ft (0.6m) to confirm brake operation. The chain brake must engage and the Saw Chain must not move
Operation
WARNING: Chainsaws are potentially dangerous high-speed wood-cutting tools. Special safety precautions
must be applied, to reduce the risk of personal injury. Careless or improper use may cause serious or even
fatal injuries. ALWAYS operate chainsaws with both hands. Always start up and operate the chainsaw without
involvement of other persons, or within the vicinity of others.
WARNING: ALWAYS wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when using this chainsaw, including
but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, forestry helmet with impact-resistant face shield, gloves,
cut-proof trousers and safety shoes.
WARNING: In the case of excessive engine noise or vibration, development of smoke or smells (other than
engine exhaust), or if the chainsaw operates sluggishly or at reduced performance, switch off the engine
immediately.
Note: Before operating a chainsaw, inspect the work area for potential dangers, and consider possible escape
routes.
Starting and stopping the engine
WARNING: To avoid injury, ALWAYS follow the starting procedure as described below. DO NOT drop start, as
this method is extremely dangerous and may cause loss of control over the saw.
WARNING: Under NO circumstances must the guide bar be clamped between the operator's legs when starting
the chainsaw.
Note: This chainsaw features a priming function to ease the start-up procedure. Priming the fuel system will
pump fuel through the fuel lines and carburettor. It is essential to press the Priming Bulb (X) before starting the
chainsaw.
