Section 1: SRS Safety / Installation Guidelines
1. Read all steps, guides and rules
carefully before installing and using
the system.
4. Do not use on water with pressure
exceeding 125 psi (8.62 bar) or
temperature
exceeding
o
120 F
o
(48.9 C).
7. Do not install the system in an area
where the
temperature can
cause the unit to
freeze.
10. You must adhere to the following guidelines when soldering: 1.) Use only LEAD FREE solder. 2.) Close or remove
PVC containers and other flammable materials to prevent fire or explosions. 3.) Do not wear loose clothing (e.g.: shirt
tails, sleeves, etc.) when using a torch for soldering. 4.) Notify the customer if you will be disabling smoke alarm(s)
during the installation. Be sure to reconnect the smoke alarm(s). 5.) Use a scorch pad to protect any surface that may
be exposed to a torch flame or excessive heat. 6.) Wear protective eyewear while installing to prevent potential eye
injury that could be caused by splattering soldering materials or metal/plastic shavings. 7.) Do not solder brass or
copper adapters while they are inserted in the Kinetico By-pass Valve. Damage to the plastic and rubber parts may
occur due to the heat and may result in water damage.
Note: The materials used in the soldering process may attack certain types of plastics.
Take care during the installation process to assure that the solder and flux do not come in
contact with the by-pass valve, or any of the plastic parts of the Kinetico softener or filter
(including, but not limited to, media tanks, E-clips, control module, etc.).
11. When installing a plastic component inline (such as the
Kinetico By-pass Valve), Kinetico recommends installing
grounding straps BEFORE the lines are actually cut to
ensure that the ground is never broken.
2. Check your local sanitation codes
for installation compliance. YOU
MUST MEET ALL STATE AND
LOCAL PLUMBING AND
ELECTRICAL CODES, including,
but not limited to: 1) Distances that
equipment should be placed from
the main panel box and electrical
outlets. 2) Proper grounding of
plumbing.
5. Kinetico recommends that a WQA
certified installer perform the
installation. Failure to install the
system as instructed will void the
warranty.
8. Provide proper ventilation when
using PVC
cleaner or
glue.
12. When installation is complete, chlorinate plumbing lines
for sanitation. You may use common unscented
household bleach. The amount of bleach will vary
depending on plumbing size, lengths and fixtures.

3. Check by-pass valve flow
configuration before applying
system pressure.
6. If the outlet of
the by-pass
valve is
installed within
10 feet of a hot
water tank,
install a check
valve and/or
expansion
tank.
9. Use a ladder for all work overhead
beyond your
natural reach.
If working
continuously
at a height of
six feet or
more, employ the appropriate
safety devices.
