SRS Owner's Manual
process but they also require control valves, backwash processing, drain lines
and brine tanks to store salt as part of the softening and regeneration process.
The SRS unit simply attaches to your water line next to the hot water tank.
Does SRS remove contaminants from my water?
No, SRS is a scale reduction system, and does not remove contaminants from
your water. However, Kinetico has a full line of products designed to handle
almost any water issue. If you would like to learn about other Kinetico systems,
please contact your local dealer for a full water analysis and system
recommendations.
How can I tell if my unit is working properly?
Scale buildup typically happens in areas you cannot see. Scale will tend to build
up inside water lines, on heating elements inside hot water tanks and
dishwashers as well as on fixtures in kitchens and baths. However, if scale does
build up, you will begin to notice low water flow and reduced efficiency of your hot
water tank. SRS will keep your fixtures clean and free of scale buildup, your
water will flow freely and appliances will work efficiently. If you feel that the unit is
not working properly, please contact your local dealer for a system review.
What type of maintenance does my system require?
Once the system is installed it requires no maintenance on your part. The media
in the SRS system is expected to last for 12 months before it needs to be
replaced. Your local dealer will service your system when new media is needed.
That's all there is to it!
By-pass Valve Operation
There may be times when you need to shut off the water
supply to the hot water tank. To do this, set the by-pass
valve to the "OFF" position. No water will flow to the tank. To
restart the water, set the by-pass valve to the "SERVICE"
position. You may put the SRS into "By-Pass" mode at any
time by turning the By-Pass valve into the "BY-PASS"
position. You will still get water throughout the house;
however, all of the water will be untreated. To return the
SRS to service, set the by-pass valve to the "SERVICE"
position.
NOTE: By-pass styles vary and yours may not be as described. Contact your Kinetico
dealer for further assistance.
