SERIE KDX-1200
DESCRIPTION
The series KDX-1200, essentially consist of 2 models of three equal power outputs and one 5V auxiliary output that
provides a total power up to 1200W.
The power outputs are isolated galvanically from each other and also from the input, and they allow their
interconnection as much in series as in parallel. There are several standard models with the interconnections in
parallel set in factory, see the table of models. This assures the equal current sharing between them.
The circuit includes a mains filter, followed of a double wave rectifier and a boost converter working as power factor
corrector (P.F.C.). The obtained DC voltage of 380V (high voltage bus), is applied to three forward converter
stages that give stabilized outputs.
Each output is protected against overloads and short circuits by means of a current limiting circuit. The unit has
four optocoupled TTL inputs, that allow to inhibit each output independently, or all of them simultaneously, except
the auxiliary, by means of the "general shutdown" input.
Also it provides a TTL signal "AC fail" that acts when the mains voltage is insufficient so that the power supply
works properly.
The unit is cooled by means of a controlled fan, which speed depends on the load and the room temperature. If an
obstruction or another cause produce overheat, the power supply shutdown. While, the fan continues working at
maximum speed and, when the temperature is low enough, it restarts automatically.
INSTALLATION
For the anchorage the threaded holes M4 of the base (a) or lateral the (b) can be used. See the figure.
START UP
Connect directly the power supply to the mains between 220Vac and 240Vca according to the figure.
If several converters are to be connected in parallel, operate as follows:
• Set the output voltage of all converters such that the voltage difference between them is minimised.
• Link the outputs at the load by using cables of the same length with a cross-section no larger than necessary.
For safety reasons, the following requirements must be met:
• An easily accessible means of disconnecting the device from the mains must be provided.
• When the fuse must be replaced, use another fuse of the same rating and type and make sure the power
supply unit is isolated from the mains.
• Provide the equipment with some kind of protective enclosure that complies with the electrical safety directives
in effect within the country where the equipment is installed.
• Use a mains connection cable having a cross section of at least 1 mm
• Connect the GND terminal to an earth.
