1 Ubbink Filtramax – Pond Filter
Safety
Safety
The instructions for use of the pumps used together with the Filtramax Pond Filter and UVC device are to be strictly followed.
To avoid overheating, a UV-C device must be operated only if water is owing through the housing of the UVC device.
The UVC lamp should be checked by visual inspection through the inspection window provided for this purpose on the device. Never look directly into UV light, direct contact with UVC
rays can cause injury to eyes and/or skin!
Commissioning
Commissioning
• Prepare both fi lter chambers for setting-up (see Figures B, C, D, F)
- Insert the partition wall
- Fit the lter media into chamber 1 and 2
- Screw the ballvalves (for dirt drainage) onto lter chamber 1 and 2
• Screw the waste connection (hose nozzle 1½" x 50/40 mm) with nut and washer (on the inside of the housing) tightly onto the fi lter housing. Push the enclosed 40 mm hose piece
onto the hoze nozzle and secure the waste connection with the enclosed 38-42mm hose clamp. For alternative tting of a waste connection with standard PVC pipes, you need a
screw/adhesive connection 1½" x 50/40 mm and a corresponding PVC pipe element.
• Install the UVC device supplied in the fi lter lid (see Figures A, E) :
- Unscrew the sealing lid and plug the UVC lamp into the lamp base
- Unscrew the sealing lid again, and ensure the washer is seated correctly.
- Now plug the UVC device into the large lter lid, lay both electrical cables in the recesses provided and screw in the connection unit tightly.
- Cover the UVC device with the small cover and screw with with 2 screws tightly onto the large lter lid from below.
• Place the fi lter next to or near your pond so that it can still be easily accessed when you later have to maintain the fi lter. To obtain maximum power, the pond fi lter must be put in a
place that is in the shade or is partly shaded during the day. Ensure that pond fi lter is set horizontally and slightly raised on a hard surface, so that both ballvalves are easy to access.
Now prepare the lter pump for connecting to the supply connection (UVC) on the Filtramax. Follow the pump's instructions for use when doing this
• Connect the pump and pond fi lter with the pond hose that has been cut to the required length. Use the relevant hose nozzles for this. Universal hose nozzles are to be shortened
accordingly.
• Now put the fi lter pump in the pond. Follow the instructions on minimum water depth and place the pump on solid ground free of mud and sand.
• Before fi rst operating the Filtramax Pond Filter System check once again that
- Closing lid and supply connections of the lter are properly screwed on,
- the ballvalves for dirt drainage are closed,
- the hose connections for lter supply and lter waste are perfect,
- you have read and followed the instructions for use of the lter pump and UVC device.
•
You can bring the Filtramax Pond Filter System into operation in the following sequence:
1 Always switch the pump on rst and check whether water ows evenly through the UVC device and the Filtramax Pond Filter.
2 Check the entire pond lter system again for leaks. We recommend sealing leaky hose connections with suitable hose clips or standard te on tape.
3 Only then switch on the UVC device (if there is one) and check the operation of the UV lamp by visual inspection safely using the device's inspection window (blue light)
Note: during the period of bacteria development in the lter chambers (around 6-8 weeks from commissioning) the UVC device should not be switched on again.
4 It is important that your Filtramax Pond Filter is in uninterrupted operation. Only for maintenance and during the winter period should the system be completely switched o .
5 If the pond lter is to be taken out of operation, always switch the UVC device o rst. Only then may the pump be switched o and the water drained from the pond lter.
Modular extension of the Filtramax lter system
Modular extension of the Filtramax lter system
• A modular connection of several Filtramax fi lters should always be done in parallel.
• Follow our pump recommendation for the relevant pond size
Maintenance and Cleaning
Maintenance and Cleaning
• If pump performance falls off , that could mean the pump interior is dirty and has to be cleaned. Please clean the pump in accordance with the instructions.
• If growth of fl oating algae in your pond visibly increases again, the cause may be a decrease in performance of the UVC device, caused by deposits on the quarz tube and/or a
decrease of the radiation intensity of the UVC lamp. In this case, the UVC lamp must be cleaned or the UVC lamp replaced. To do this, please proceed in accordance with the UVC
instruction.
• Depending on the level of pollution of the pond water it may be necessary - particularly in the fi rst few weeks after setting-up of the fi lter - to rinse out the dirt sediment from the
lter chambers using the two separate ballvalves. You do not need to switch o the pond lter to do this.

• For Ubbink Filtramax Pond Filterswe give you a guarantee of 3 years against demonstrable material and manufacturing faults, which applies as from the date of purchase. To make
a claim under the guarantee, as proof of purchase the original sales receipt must be presented. In addition on Ubbink Filtramax Pond Filter we give you a 12 month clear water
guarantee for clean and healthy water. To bene t from the Ubbink® guarantee use Filtramax lters professionally and exclusively. The clear water guarantee may be claimed after
six weeks (time span required for effi cient fi ltering when fi rst using) and when using an Ubbink® pump if the water is detectably not clean and clear.
• Claims not coming under the guarantee are those attributable to faults in fi tting and operation, lack of maintenance, the eff ect of frost, improper attempts at repair, use of force,
third party fault, overloading, mechanical damage or the e ect of foreign bodies, as well as claims attributable to wear, such as e.g. lter media, hoze nozzles and pond hoses.
• Guarantee information on the pump and UVC device may be found in the manufacturer's instructions.
