OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
OPERATION WITH THE COOKING GRID
1. The cooking grid should only be utilized when the fire pit is being used for cooking.
2. The gas control knob must be in the O (OFF) position when utilizing the cooking grid.
3. When cooking with oil or grease, have a BC or ABC fire extinguisher readily available.
4. In the event of an oil or grease fire, do not attempt to extinguish with water. Immediately call the
fire department. A type BC or ABC fire extinguisher may, in some circumstances contain the fire.
5. In the event of rain, snow, hail, sleet or other forms of precipitation while cooking with oil or grease,
turn off the fire pit burner and gas supply. Do not attempt to move the fire pit.
6. When cooking, the appliance must be on a level, stable, noncombustible surface in an area clear
of combustible material. An asphalt surface (blacktop) may not be acceptable for this purpose.
7. Do not leave the fire pit unattended. Keep children and pets away from the fire pit at all times.
8. This fire pit will be hot during and after use. Use insulated oven mitts or gloves for protection from
hot surfaces or splatter from cooking liquids.
Never Operate This Appliance Unattended. Failure to follow this danger statement could result in
fire, explosion or burn hazard that could cause property damage, personal injury or death. DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO EXTINGUISH AN OIL OR GREASE FIRE WITH WATER.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
To enjoy years of outstanding performance from your fire pit, make sure you perform the following
maintenance activities on a regular basis:
Keep exterior surfaces clean.
1. Use warm soapy water for cleaning. Never use flammable or corrosive cleaning agents.
2. While cleaning your fire pit, be sure to keep the area around the burner dry at all times. Do not
submerge the control valve assembly. If the gas control is submerged in water, do NOT use it.
It must be replaced.
a. Keep the appliance area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline and other
flammable vapors and liquids.
b. Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air.
c. Keep the ventilation opening(s) of the cylinder enclosure free and clear from debris.
3. Air flow must be unobstructed. Keep starter's control, burner, and circulating air passageways clean.
Signs of possible blockage include:
• Gas odor with extreme yellow tipping of flame.
• Starter's flame is excessively uneven.
• Starter makes popping noises.
• Spiders and insects or ashes can nest in burner or orifice. This dangerous condition can
damage starter and render it unsafe for use. Clean the burner area by removing any
debris. Compressed air may help clear away smaller particles.
• Carbon deposits may create fire hazard. Clean the burner box with warm soapy water if any
carbon deposits develop.
CAUTION: Only a qualified service person should repair gas passages and associated components.
Always allow fire pit to cool before attempting service.
