Safety
Correct use
Pilot valves of the type PV 12F72 Ci ... and
PV 12F73 Xi..... serve to pilot Eugen Seitz
AG valves. The pilot valves are classified as
category 2 and equipment-group II devices
in compliance with EC-type-examination
certificate PTB 99 ATEX 2146 and PTB 00
ATEX 2030 and are therefore suitable for
use in areas with potentially explosive gas-,
vapour-, mist- and air mixtures (zones 1
and 2).
Authorised persons
Only authorised persons are permitted to
work on the pilot valve. Authorised persons
are those with 'electrical training' (EN 60
204).
About these operating instructions
These operating instructions form part of
the product and must be integrated into
the relevant operating instructions for de-
scriptions of equipment or machines.
General Safety Warnings
In order to ensure the pilot valve's explosion
protection performance, any change of its
configuration is vorbidden.
The supply voltage must not
exceed the maximum values
specified in the "Safety limits."
If using the pilot valve in poten-
tial explosive areas, it must be
connected to permitted intrin-
sically-safe circuits.
The housing may reach the
temperature of the medium.
Warning: Danger of burning.
Only use non-flammable gases
as a pressure medium. Where
the pilot valve may be used is a
function of the ambient and
medium temperature. Follow
the assembly instructions and
temperature classes at al costs.
Guarantee
Trouble-free operation of the pilot valve is
assured if the 'technical data' and 'operat-
ing conditions' are adhered to.
IP protection according to EN 60 529
In order to maintain the IP65 protection, the
external diameter of the connection cable
must be between 5 and 9 mm.
Explosion-Protection
The pilot valves are intended for connec-
tion to intrinsically safe category ia and ib
circuits (see Safety limits).

Operating Conditions
Power supply
Harmonic oscillations have no effect on the
functioning of the device if the r.m.s. value
of the sum of all the voltages is not less
than the voltage

plate.
Voltage impulses
Peak value :
1000 V, duration
Voltage interruptions or loss
Values depend on the valve to be piloted.
Obtain relevant data from the manufacturer.
Electro magnetic compatibility
- Pilot valves do not emit any distur-
bances as per EN 50 081-1 and NA-
MUR recommendation NE 21
- Pilot valves are not sensitive to distur-
bances according to NAMUR recom-
mendation NE 21
Extreme demands
Please consult manufacturer in connection
with using the pilot valve under extreme
conditions such as ionising and non-ionis-
ing radiation, vibration, shock, permanent
shock and hostile environmental condi-
tions.
Assembly/ Disassembly
Before beginning, the "Safety" and "Gener-
al safety warnings" sections must be read
and fully understood.
Assembly
- Fit seals to pilot valve flange
- Screw onto the valve to be piloted
Connecting the device to the power
supply
Connect the solenoids to the power supply
using a two-core cable with a max. copper
cross-section of 1.5 mm
2
. It does not mat-
ter which way you connect the poles.
Cable must be suitable for the relevant am-
bient temperature. Any self-heating at the
cable inlet is negligible.
Disassembly
- Interrupt supply of compressed air
- Loosen fixing screws (3 mm hex key)
Maintenance
Eugen Seitz AG pilot valves do not require
servicing.
To ensure the explosion-protection,
only the manufacturer or an authorised
expert centre is permitted to repair pi-
lot valves.
