PRESENTATION:
A fall prevention system sliding on a cable enables the user to be made safe during his/her movements, without unhooking operations on
a ladder. The system can be installed on a pylon, a concrete or metal structure, etc. These systems are suitable for both indoor and
outdoor use; for outdoor use the climatic conditions need to be taken into account (wind, salt spray, etc.).
Depending on the type of installation that you are going to use, the system may comply with the EN353-2 (KS2001) or the EN353-1
(KS7000) standards.
EN353-2: Personal protective equipment against falls from a height on a flexible anchor line: the installation is fitted with a
counterweight on the cable.
EN353-1: Personal protective equipment against falls from a height on a rigid anchor line: the installation is fitted with a
tensioner on the cable.
Whichever type of system is used: KS2001 or KS7000, in the event of a fall the device locks the fall to the anchor line instantly. These
anchor cables must never be used as means of access or suspension.
To be complete, a fall prevention system sliding on a cable must include at least: a top anchorage point complying with the EN795
standard, one (or more) intermediate attachment points (at 8 metre intervals), a bottom anchorage with a cable tensioning system, an
anchor line (cable), the sliding fall prevention device and a sign board.
These systems must only be installed using components recommended by KRATOS SAFETY and by installers having the necessary
expertise for this type of installation. It is essential to make a study of the structure before installation, to check the strength of the
structure and its dimensions in order to guarantee the installation, and to take into account the requirements of the users.
Finally, the safety rules must be determined during the installation!
In the drawings here after, we favored the representation of an installation on ladder rungs. The instructions are the same for an
installation on ladder stiles
1.) INSTALLATION OF A COMPLETE SYSTEM:
1.1) THE TOP ANCHORAGE POINT:
PART NUMBER: FA 20 201 00
Material: Stainless Steel SS 316 L
Fastenings: STAINLESS STEEL (316 A4-70)
Strength > 10 kN
Weight: 3.275 kg
The KRATOS SAFETY top anchorage point is designed to be installed on the following support structures:
Fig. A
It should be positioned in the direction in which the load will be applied:
This top anchorage point is designed to withstand the fall of a person, it must be situated above the user and the strength of the structure
to which it is attached must be a minimum of 15 kN at the anchorage point in the direction in which the force is likely to be applied in
service.
KRATOS SAFETY top anchorage points have been tested, and comply with the requirements of the EN 795 class A1 standard: 1996
Remember that the top anchorage and its attachment play a crucial role in the event of a fall; special attention must be given to
it.
Tools required:
Two 24 mm ring spanners or open pipe wrenches OR 2 adjustable spanners.
Installation:
Make sure that the structure to which the anchorage is to be attached has the capacity to support the load required: minimum 15 kN,
Prepare the screwing of the 2 threaded rods according to the size and the structure to which the anchorage is to be attached,
Assemble the unit taking care to place the anchorage point downwards in the direction in which the force is likely to be applied in
service, and in such a way that if the anchorage point is loaded there is no risk of rotation, cf. fig a and fig b for the direction of the plates
according to the structure,
