Ultra2 SCSI
The following apply to the Ultra2 SCSI controllers and SX405xU2 modules:
n SmartRAID V Ultra2 (LVD) SCSI buses support both LVD and single-
ended devices, which may be mixed on the SCSI bus. Connecting a single-
ended device to an Ultra2 bus will result in the entire bus running at a
maximum 20MHz Ultra speed.
Do not connect older, non-Ultra2 Differential SCSI devices to
!
an Ultra2 Low Voltage Differential (LVD) SCSI bus. They will
damage the Ultra2 hardware.
n Ultra2 devices typically do not have built-in termination. DPT supplies an
Ultra2 terminator on the end of the cable supplied with the controller.
Fibre Channel
If you are using a PM3755F or have installed an SX405xF expansion module,
the following apply:
n Fibre Channel devices and controllers do not require termination. Refer to
your Fibre Channel Enclosure documentation for information about
installing a loop-back plug for the enclosure.
n Fibre Channel controllers and devices automatically configure device IDs
during boot.
n DPT Fibre Channel controllers and expansion modules use High Speed
Serial Data Connectors (HSSDC).
SCSI IDs
Ensure that each SCSI device has a unique SCSI ID.
n SCSI device IDs are usually set through jumpers or switches on the device.
n By default, ID 7 is used for the controller. You can use SMOR to change
the controller's ID at power-up.
n Wide SCSI devices can be assigned IDs 0 to 15. Narrow SCSI devices can
only use IDs 0 to 7.
n If you have installed an SX405xU2 Bus Expansion Module, configure the
device SCSI IDs for each channel independently.
