source must agree with the voltage spe-cified on the nameplate
of the machine. Equipment marked with 230V can also be
connected to 220V.
• SWITCHING ON AND OFF
Brief activation
Press or release the On/Off switch 4.
Continuous use
Switching on: Press On/Off switch 4 and retain with locking
button 5.
Switching off: Press and release On/Off switch 4.
• TWO-STEP SWITCH (GSB 13-2)
Two rotational speed ranges can be selected with On/Off
switch 4. The machine switches from the first to the second
rotational speed step after a perceptible pressure point has
been exceeded:
- Rotational speed step I: 2500 min
- Rotational speed step II: 3000 min
The On/Off switch can be locked in either of the rotational
speed steps by means of locking button 5.
• STEPLESS SPEED CONTROL (GSB 13 RE)
The machine runs with variable speed between 0 and
maximum depending on the pressure applied to the On/Off
switch 4.
Light pressure results in a low rotational speed thus allowing
smooth, controlled starts.
Do not load the machine so heavily that it comes to a
standstill.
• CHANGING THE ROTATIONAL DIRECTIONS (GSB 13 RE)
Operate the rotational direction switch 3 only at a
standstill.
Using the rotational direction switch 3, the direction of
rotation of the machine can be changed (by actuating the
On/Off switch 4, the rotational direction switch 3 can be
locked).
Right Rotation (figure .C. )
Press the rotational direction switch through to the left stop
(for drilling, impact drilling, driving screws, etc.).
Left Rotation (figure .D. )
Press the rotational direction switch through to the right stop
(for loosening and unscrewing screws and nuts).
Drilling, Driving and Impact Drilling
Drilling and Driving
Push selector switch 2 to the right.
Impact Drilling
Push selector switch 2 to the left.
The switch 2 notches in distinctly and can be operated whilst
the machine is running. Hard metal drills are necessary
when working with concrete, stone and brick.
Practical advice
Small workpieces
Use a vise or clamps to hold your workpiece.
Loose pieces could grip int the bit and cause
accidents.
Wall tiles and ceramics
Begin to drill without impact and activate the impact system
after drilling through the enamel surface. By doing this, you
prevent the bit to slide or the material to split.
Select the right bit
By choosing the correct bit for every specific material, and
keeping it correctly sharpened, you'll allow your tool to show
its best performance.
Carbon tipped bits - wood
High speed steel bits - soft steel, aluminum, wood, etc.
Carbide tipped bits - concrete, marble, ceramics, etc.
Attention!
When drilling in metal, use special cutting oil to prevent the
bit to burn. Drillings in concrete, stone, ceramics, etc. should
be in dry.

Maintenance and cleaning
-1
• Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
If the machine should fail despite the care taken in
manufacturing and testing procedures, repair should be
carried out by an authorized after-sales service centre for
Bosch power tools.
Important: If for any reason the moulded plug is removed
from the cable of this machine it must be disposed of safely.
Guarantee
We guarantee Bosch appliances in accordance with
statutory/country-specific regulations (proof of purchase by
invoice or delivery note).
Damage attributable to normal wear and tear, overload or
improper handling will be excluded from the guarantee.
In
undismantled, to your dealer or the Bosch Service Centre
for electric power tools.
Warning!
Freight and insurance costs ar charged to client, even for
warranty claims.
Environmental protection
The machine, accessories and packaging should be sorted
for environmental-friendly recycling.
The plastic components are labeled for categorized
recycling.
For safe and proper working, always keep the
machine and the ventilation slots clean.
