FEATURES
KOBRA 240 are paper shredding machines designed for standard
sheets and 9 1/2 inches EDP print-outs shredding.
For technical data please refer to page 18.
All KOBRA 240 models can shred credit cards.
Models KOBRA 240SS4 and KOBRA 240SS5 are also suitable to
shred CD-ROMS and FLOPPY DISKS.
INSTALLATION
For machines with a removable plug, use an easily accessible
power socket near the machine.
The holder of the machine head (1) must be inserted in its
housing of the stand (3).
Insert the waste bin (2) below the machine head until it stops
against the stand. Machine is now ready f or operation.
To empty the waste bin (2) from the paper shreds just remove it
off the stand (3) and reinsert the waste bin below the shredder
head (1) when emptied.
ATTENTION: When the red signal (C) is "ON" on the panel board
indicates that the waste bin (2) is not correctly inserted below
the shredder head. The machine automatically stops when red
signal (C) is ON.
OPERATION - ENERGY SMART SYSTEM
Connect the electrical plug of the machine to the main electrical
socket. Switch the machine on by pressing the main switch (A) in
(I) position and the green Stand by signal (B) on the panel board
and the ENERGY SMART optical indicators (E) will illuminate.
Machine is now ready to work.
Through the electronic eyes (D) the machine automatically
starts by inserting the documents to shred. When shredding is
completed the machine turns automatically to stand-by mode.
In case too much paper is fed the machine will jam.
By pressing the switch (A) in (R) position the machine can be
cleared from the excess of paper.
By positioning the switch (A) back to (I) position and inserting a
smaller quantity of paper the machine re-starts shredding.
In order to get the best performances and to preserve the
life-time of the mechanical components your KOBRA shredder
should operate below the maximum rated capacity avoiding
jamming situations.
ENERGY SMART System: approximately 20 seconds after
the shredding operation is completed the ENERGY SMART
management system will automatically turn the optical
indicator (E) off and put the machine into a stand by zero power
consumption mode. The ENERGY SMART management system
can save up to 10 Kw of electrical energy a year and will reduce
by 65 Kgs the carbon dioxide (CO2) that would have been
introduced into the atmosphere for generation of the power
saved by ENERGY SMART.
Whenever a sheet of paper is introduced into the shredder
opening, the electronic eyes (D) will automatically re-activate all
the machine's functions and the optical indicators (E) will light
up again.
Some models in the KOBRA 240 range are delivered with a
plastic flap (F). Flap must be rotate over the paper entry throat
and FLOPPY DISKS,CDs or CREDIT CARDS should be inserted
into the dedicated slot which keeps the material to shred
aligned between the electronic eyes and protect the operator
from pieces of plastic which could fly out from the cutting unit
during shredding.
AUTOMATIC FUNCTIONS
KOBRA 240 shredders are equipped with the following automatic
functions:
- ELECTRONIC EYES (D) for automatic start-stop of the machine.
- AUTOMATIC STOP in case of waste bin out (red signal (C) "ON"
on panel board).
- AUTOMATIC motor protection.
In case of overheating of the electrical motor an automatic
protection turns the machine off. After a cooling time of about
10/15 minutes the shredder will be ready again for normal
operation.
- ENERGY SMART management system which automatically
turns the shredder into almost a zero power consumption of
the shredder. This function activates after 20 seconds from last
shredding operation.
ATTENTION:
When the automatic motor protection is activated the machine
cannot be operated even if the green stand-by signal (C) is ON.
MAINTENANCE
KOBRA 240 shredders do not require special maintenance.
It is anyway important to lubricate every 20 minutes of
continuous shredding the cutting knives of the cross-cut models
to keep the knives cleaned and maintain the rated shreddinq
capacity.
Lubricate knives by shredding a sheet of paper with some drops
of machine oil spread on it (one bottle of oli included in cross-
cut models).
The introduction of metal into cutting knìves may affect the
quality of cut and cause damages to the cutting knives.
NEVER use synthetic oil, benezene-based products or aerosol
lubricants of any kind inside the machine or anywhere in the
vicinity.

If you have any problems with your shredder, check the symptoms and solutions below. If this fails to solve the problem,
contact your nearest Kobra dealer.
Do not open the head of the shredder to try to repair it yourself. You could expose yourself to the risk of serious
electrical shock and also invalidate your guarantee.
