4 Description and Function

For installing the EnergyPack into the prosthetic socket, you need
757Z184=* or 757Z190=* Battery Mounting Set. For detailed
information, please refer to the Installation Instructions provided
with the set.
Unlike NiCad batteries, the lithium-ion battery EnergyPack has the
benefits of a lower self-discharge, a higher cell potential and a higher
energy density. Lithium-ion technology offers higher capacities and
has no memory effect.
The EnergyPack's integrated electronic safety system provides
increased safety. If there is a short circuit, the safety system auto-
matically shuts off the EnergyPack.
As soon as a certain voltage level is exceeded while charging, the
EnergyPack automatically shuts off. This protects the EnergyPack
from overcharging.
Once the EnergyPack is reinserted into the prosthesis, it will be reset.
As soon as the voltage falls below the final discharge voltage, the
EnergyPack will shut off automatically. After shut-down or if there
is a short circuit, the EnergyPack can be reset by inserting it into
the Ottobock 757L20 Lithium-Ion Battery Charger. Doing so will
re-activate the charging process.
The EnergyPack has a capacity indicator (fig. 1, pos. 1) indicating
the approximate capacity of the EnergyPack. The capacity indica-
tor is activated for a few seconds as soon as the EnergyPack is
inserted into the prosthetic shell.
