from a length of 5 x 5 mm strip. You can colour these parts using a walnut coloured stain or diluted pitch. Varnish the whole hull
and the decks, using a colourless, satin-finish, pore-filler varnish. After this step varnish each of the parts before fitting them into
place.
PHOTO 72: Working from a 5 x 5 mm strip, make up the rest of the Samson posts (no. 98), which are fitted onto the limber
boards at the bow, and glue them into place using quick drying glue. Give an angle to the davits (no. 99) before gluing them
sideways onto the bulwarks and under these the angle brackets (no. 100).
PHOTO 73: Fit the head rail (no. 101) between davit angle bracket and the stem. Adjust it if necessary and glue it in place using
quick-drying glue. Paint or stain the parts that you have just fitted into place.
PHOTO 74: Glue the bracket frames (nos. 102 & 103) onto the hull and the stem. Soak these parts so that they adapt to the
shape better. Using the strips (no. 104) line over the bracket frames and also their tops against the hull.
PHOTO 75: Use brass wire (no. 105) to make up the stem adornment bracket frames. Make 2 mm holes in the strips, in which
to insert the anchor cables, attached to the top of the bracket frames. Finally paint all of these parts in matt black and gold.
PHOTO 76: Make up two gratings making sure that all of the parts are correctly inserted and then glue them together using
quick-drying glue. From these completed units take portions to make up the different gratings on the decks. Use two complete
gratings to make up the part (no. 106) at the bow.
PHOTO 77: Cut out portions of the grating (no. 109) and join them together using the strips (nos. 107 & 108). Centre the
assemblies on the deck side beams. Finally fit the finishing pieces (no. 110). Also make up the gratings (no. 113) and frame
them using the strips (nos. 111 & 112). You can make small holed in the external perimeter strips, in which to place the
ammunition (no. 114). Use quick-drying glue.
PHOTO 78: Cut lengths of the strip (no. 115) to make up the hatch cover. Frame it using the strips (nos. 116 & 117). Make the
holes for the ammunition (no. 114).
PHOTO 79: Make up the other grating assemblies and take the parts (nos. 119 & 121) from them. Fit the frames (nos. 118, 120
& 122). Make holes and insert the ammunition (no. 114) into them.
PHOTO 80: The ladders are made up using the uprights (nos. 123 & 124). The steps must be cut from the parts (no. 125), to
the dimensions indicated. Once put together, cut to the correct height for each hatch. Use quick-drying glue.
PHOTO 81: Make up the guardrail for the hatch that you will be assembling in the next step, using the strips (nos. 126 & 127).
Glue the columns (no. 128) among the strips shown. Use quick-drying glue.
PHOTO 82: Locate the guardrail on the hatch on the deck shown and in front a ladder assembly.
PHOTOS 83 & 84: Make up the assembly shown using the parts (nos. 129 & 130). Make four 1 mm diameter holes at the foot
of the Samson posts, at the height shown. Put together two ladders and place them in the openings in the deck as shown. Fit
the necessary eyebolts and rings on the hatch.
PHOTO 85: First glue the strips (nos. 132 & 133) and then the strips (nos. 134 & 135) sideways onto the base (no. 131). Paint
the chimneys (no. 136) black and cream and glue them into place as shown in the photo.
PHOTOS 86 & 87: Glue the bell (no. 138), using quick-drying glue, to the bell tower (no. 137) and fit it into the slots in the deck,
retouching it if necessary.
Make up two assemblies using the parts (nos. 129 & 130) and attach them in the area of the bow. Fit the brackets (no. 139)
laterally aligned with the bell tower, already painted cream, and attach the handrail (no. 140) to them. Centre the other handrail
(no. 141) over it. Make up two ladders for access to the lower deck. Finally fit the assembly put together in photo 85.
PHOTO 88: Glue the columns (no. 142) on the handrail (no. 143) and the whole assembly to the deck as shown. Glue the
indicated finishes (no. 114) making sure that they coincide with the columns.
PHOTO 89: Fit the brackets (no. 139) as shown in the photo. Glue the handrails (no, 144) to them and onto these the handrails
(no. 145). Cut and make up the parts (nos. 146 & 147), which will be glued onto the deck without piercing it.
PHOTOS 90 & 91: The transom decoration (no. 148) is made of ductile material. Bend it to the same curved shape as the back
part of the hull and decorate it before fitting the windows (no. 156). You can trim the edges of each window in order to centre
them in position better. Use quick-drying glue. The transom must be centred on the stern, as shown in the photo. Decorate it
using the colours black, gold and old copper.
PHOTO 92: Mount the parts (nos. 149, 150 & 151) onto the transom and the bulwarks. Line the bulkheads using the strips (no.
152) and in continuation make up the roof using the strips (no. 153).
PHOTO 93: Glue the frames (no. 154) to the bulkheads and on the interior to the soffit (no. 155). Insert a pin by way of a
handle. Glue the base (no. 157) to the bottom of the transom. Then attach the part (no. 158) on top of it, to form a small step. At
a height of approximately 20 mm attach the base (no. 159). The top base (no. 160) should be attached at a height of 50 mm
above the base (no. 157). These parts can be better adjusted if we use the window and columns that incorporate them as
shown in photo 113. This step can also be delayed, and carried out at the same time as those associated with photo 113, in
order to ensure a better adjustment.
PHOTO 94: In order to make up the gun ports, glue one of the parts (no. 162) onto each of the bases (no. 161). The pins are
held in place by bending the ends of the hinges. Glue the hinges to each port and attach them to the hull, first making the holes,
so that the pins can be inserted into them. The pins must be bent so that they can be correctly fitted. Paint the inside of the ports
red. Use quick-drying glue.
PHOTO 95: Make the necessary holes in the base for the guns and glue the gun barrels (no. 164) in place on the line of the first
battery. Only those guns (no. 165) that have a base to which they can be attached are glued in place on the second battery.
Use quick-drying glue.
PHOTO 96: Make up the cabin assembly using the parts (nos. 166, 167 & 168). The outside must be horizontally lined using the
strips (nos. 169 & 170.
PHOTOS 97 & 98: Glue onto the top the finishes (nos. 171 & 172). Fit the frames, windows and soffits, as shown in the photo.
Also attach pins to the doors as door handles. Attach the cabin to the deck as shown. Adjust the opening in the bulwark in order
to insert the windows (no. 180).
