the Slave modules it must be selected only the program to be remodulated in the RF band, refer to MENU
INPUT on page 30 -> Channel List.
The Master, Slave or stand-alone mode can be selected with the TPE universal programmer; see "SETTINGS"
menu on page 33.
The default configuration foresees eight modules in the stand-alone mode that are programmed according to
the default programming on page 26.
For a proper operation in Master/Slave mode, we recommend placing the Master board in first position
followed by the slave boards. Moreover, cut the flat cable in order that no connectors are free.
ATTENTION: do not set up any direct connection of two modules in Master mode by means of the flat
cable as they could get damaged permanently.
Figure 12 shows a connection example of Master (M) and Slave (S) receivers by means of a flat cable. In
particular, the figure shows two Master receivers with the CAM on board; the two receivers control 2 and 4
Slave receivers respectively. The flat cable was cut after the third module so that the signals of the two Master
modules are separate.
3.1 USE OF AUDIO AND VIDEO SUB-D 15 PIN OUTPUTS/INPUTS
There are two IN/OUT connectors (SUB-D 15 poles, see Fig. 1 and Fig. 2) to manage A/V external signals in
the base band. The connectors are associated to the two 7 and 8 cards. Figure 13 shows the connections
on the upper side of the headend, in particular the SUB-D 15 pin connectors and the correspondence with
the no. 7 and no. 8 cards.
If these ports are used as outputs (receiver mode), the TV signal (of receiver no.7 and no.8) is available in base
band (on the SUB-D 15 poles connectors) as well as the modulated signal (at the RF output of the headend).
If the connectors are used as inputs (modulator mode), the 7 and 8 cards modulate the external signals (in
base band) at the RF output; in this case, the TV inputs of the 7 and 8 cards can be left free. Refer to Figure
10 for an example of a connection with two audio/video (S1, S2) sources that are remodulated at the headend
output.
The IN/OUT selection is performed by three switches positioned on the card front; refer to the following Figure
16 to see where the switches are situated on the card.
To select the data flux, cut off the main network power to avoid entering in contact with high voltage parts.
Open the headend front panel with the key and remove the receiver in position 7 or 8. Figure 16 shows the
switches on the front of each receiver. If the three switches are in the TV position, the module is in the TV
receiving mode. If the three switches are in the EXT position, the receiver is in the modulation mode; this
means that the card modulates the external signal at the RF output.
The two SUB-D15 pin connectors are supplied with an audio and video regulation at the input. This variation
is possible by means of two trimmers placed on the front of each card (see Figure 15).
