06 | OPERATION
NOTE
Mind to set studio fl ash and fl ash trigger to same channel and same ID. To pre-
vent your fl ash from foreign radio signals which cause false trigger, choose
another channel or ID on both devices.
06.1 SETTING CHANNEL
Press button channel setting (19). The display shows the current channel. Choose
desired channel from CH01 to CH15 with button (19) and button (20). Confi rm set-
ting with confi rmation button (21). The fl ash trigger saves the setting automatically,
when no input is made for 5 seconds.
06.2 SETTING ID
Press button ID setting (21). The display highlights the ID. Choose desired ID from
ID00 to ID99 with button (19) in decimal steps and button (20) in single steps. Con-
fi rm setting with confi rmation button (21). The fl ash trigger saves the setting auto-
matically, when no input is made for 5 seconds.
06.3 LED MODELLING LIGHT
Press control key 4 (12) to turn on or off the modelling light of your DÖRR DMX-600
studio fl ash. Control key 8 (16) enters the modelling light intensity setting. Button
(19) and (20) adjusts the intensity of the modelling light in 8 steps. Confi rm setting
with confi rmation button (21). The fl ash trigger saves the setting automatically,
when no input is made for 5 seconds.
06.4 ACOUSTIC STANDBY SIGNAL
Use button acoustic standby signal (18) to turn on or off the acoustic standby signal
of your DÖRR DMX-600 studio fl ash.
06.5 AF AUXILIARY LIGHT
SLR and system camera need certain contrast to set the autofocus precisely. Mis-
sing the surrounding light makes the autofocus fail to focus. In this case the DÖRR
DMX-N fl ash trigger emits red contrast light pattern to help the autofocus to work
fast and precise again.
Press button AF auxiliary light (20) to turn on or off the AF auxiliary light.
06.6 GROUP SETTING
When using more than one DÖRR DMX-600 studio fl ash, you are able to set the
studio fl ashes in 3 groups total: A, B and C. Each group may have diff erent settings.
Assign the group directly with the studio fl ash. Please read the instruction manual
of your DÖRR DMX-600 studio fl ash to learn about the group setting.
Use your DÖRR DMX-N fl ash trigger to assign the following settings to each group:
Flashing in iTTL mode TTL
Flashing in manual mode M
Flashing in short flash duration mode FP

06.7 FLASHING IN iTTL MODE
Press control key 1 (9) until TTL is shown in display.

iTTL ("intelligent Through-The-Lens Mode") is an improved TTL fl ash control by
Nikon to ensure an optimal illumination of the motif. The emitted light is refl ected
by the motif and measured Through The Lens = TTL by the camera. When reaching
the correct amount of light, a signal is sent to the studio fl ash which stops the light
output.
Adjust fl ash power
Press control key 5 (13). The display highlights 0.0 EV (fl ash power adjustment).
Reduce the fl ash power with button (19) or use button (20) to increase the fl ash po-
wer. The adjustment is done in 0,3 EV steps (EV = exposure value, 1 EV corresponds
to 1 aperture step). Confi rm setting with confi rmation button (21). The fl ash trigger
saves the setting automatically, when no input is made for 5 seconds.
06.8 FLASHING IN MANUAL MODE M
Press control key 1 (9) until M is shown in display. In manual fl ash mode the light
