PAUSE MODE
If you need to deactivate one of the smoke
detectors temporarily, press once on the
front for about one second. When you re-
lease the button you will hear one beep. The
smoke detector will then go into pause
mode for ten minutes. After this, it will return
to its normal operating mode. During pause
mode, if a fire starts near another paired
smoke detector, the paused detector will
also emit an alarm.
UNPAIRING/RESETTING THE SMOKE
DETECTOR
Detach the smoke detector from the base
plate by turning it anticlockwise. Check that
the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
Press the grey button on the smoke de-
tector you wish to unpair. A beep is heard
after one second, and continue pressing the
button for about ten seconds until you hear
three beeps. The smoke detector is now un-
paired.
MAINTENANCE
We recommend that you test the smoke de-
tector at least once per month and when
you return after a lengthy absence such as a
holiday. Vacuum the outside of the smoke
detector once or twice per year.
Important: The smoke detector must not
be exposed to chemicals or water. It
must not be painted over or modified in
any way.

IF YOU HEAR AN ALARM
When the smoke detector detects smoke, it
triggers a continuous sound and the red in-
dicator light flashes. All paired devices will
also then emit the alarm sound, but their in-
dicator lights do not flash.
RESETTING AFTER FALSE ALARM
In the event of a suspected false alarm, find
the smoke detector which initiated the
alarm. This is the device where the red indi-
cator light is flashing. Silence the alarm by
pressing once on the smoke detector to ini-
tiate pause mode. Then check the cause
that triggered the alarm, e.g. cooking fumes.
All alarms should be taken seriously.
This means that evacuation should be the
first action taken.
BATTERY WARNING
•
When the battery warning is heard, the
smoke detector should be replaced. The bat-
tery lasts for the entire lifetime of the smoke
detector (ten years) and cannot be replaced.
•
When the battery begins to lose power, a
beep is heard about once every 20 minutes,
and the indicator light flashes about once
every four seconds. When one device emits
a low battery warning, the other paired devi-
ces beep once every four hours. In order to
establish which device is emitting the war-
ning, check which one is flashing every four
seconds. A device begins to emit a low bat-
tery warning at least 30 days before the bat-
tery is entirely depleted.
RECYCLING
Electrical products must not be disposed of
together with ordinary household waste.
Take the product to a recycling centre.
Check with your local authority or retailer for
information about recycling. New regula-
tions promote the recycling of waste electri-
cal and electronic equipment are in place
(the European 'WEEE Directive' came into
force August 2005).
