1. What is weather?
The weather is around us, all of the time. It
is an important part of our lives and one that
we cannot control. Instead the weather often
controls how and where we live, what we do,
what we wear and what we eat. Someone who
studies the weather is called a meteorologist.
Weather predictions are made by weather
forecasters who you see every day on the te-
levision.
Weather is the day-to-day conditions of a par-
ticular place.
For example: It was raining today at school.
Yesterday, it was sunny at home.
Weather is very important in all our lives. It
affects our comfort, our food supplies, our
health, the type of houses we have and our
travel plans. You will fi nd that monitoring and
recording the weather is a fascinating hobby.
Your new Weather Station will provide you
with all of the information you need to keep
our own weather records and even make your
own forecasts.
2. Introducing your Weather Station
Your Weather Station is made up of three cu-
bes, which can be used individually, or com-
bined, to make up a complete weather station.
Your station comes with a ground spike, so that
once you have constructed the station with the
three cubes, you can place it fi rmly into the
ground in your desired location. Should you
wish to use the cubes individually, the ground
spike can also be used on any one of them to
fi x it into position.
