The vibration level given in this information sheet has been
measured in accordance with a standardised test given in
EN 60745 and may be used to compare one tool with
another. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of
exposure.
The declared vibration emission level represents the main
applications of the tool. However if the tool is used for differ-
ent applications, with different accessories or insertion tools
or is poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ.
This may significantly increase the exposure level over the
total working period.
An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also
take into account the times when the tool is switched off or
when it is running but not actually doing the job. This may
significantly reduce the exposure level over the total working
period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator
from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tool and the
accessories, keep the hands warm, organisation of work
patterns.
Assembly
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
Auxiliary Handle (see figure A)
Operate your machine only with the auxiliary handle 7.
The auxiliary handle 7 can be set to any position for a secure
and low-fatigue working posture.
Turn the bottom part of the auxiliary handle 7 in counterclock-
wise direction and swivel the auxiliary handle 7 to the desired
position. Then retighten the bottom part of the auxiliary
handle 7 by turning in clockwise direction.
Adjusting the Drilling Depth
The required drilling depth X can be set with the depth stop 5.
Loosen the wing bolt for the depth stop adjustment 6 and
insert the depth stop rod into the auxiliary handle 7.
Pull out the depth stop until the distance between the tip of
the drill bit and the tip of the depth stop corresponds with the
desired drilling depth X.
Changing the Tool (see figure B)
Wear protective gloves when changing the tool. The
drill chuck can become very hot during longer work
periods.

Open the key type drill chuck 1 by turning until the tool can be
inserted. Insert the tool.
Insert the chuck key 4 into the corresponding holes of the key
type drill chuck 1 and clamp the tool uniformly.
Replacing the Drill Chuck (see figure C)
Removing the Drill Chuck
To remove the key type drill chuck 1, clamp an Allen key into
the key type drill chuck 1. Place the machine onto a stable
support, e. g. a workbench. Hold the machine tightly and
loosen the key type drill chuck 1 by turning the Allen key in
anticlockwise direction. A tightly seated key type drill chuck is
loosened by applying a light blow onto the long end of the
Allen key . Remove the Allen key from the key type drill chuck
and fully unscrew the drill chuck.
Mounting the Drill Chuck
The key type drill chuck is mounted in reverse order.
The drill chuck must be tightened with a tightening
torque of approx. 36 Nm.
Dust/Chip Extraction
Dust from materials such as lead-containing coatings,
some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to
one's health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause
allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of
the user or bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered car-
cinogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment
additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials con-
taining asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the
materials to be worked.
Prevent dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
easily ignite.
Operation
Starting Operation
Observe correct mains voltage! The voltage of the
power source must agree with the voltage specified on
the nameplate of the machine. Power tools marked
with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch 3 and keep it
pressed.
Lock the pushed On/Off switch 3 by
pushing the lock-on button 2 upward.
Bosch Power Tools
