Side Cutter Sewing
The side cutter is specially designed for cutting and
overcasting the fabric edge at the same time.
Machine setting

CAUTIONS:
• Turn the power switch off when setting the built-in side
cutter.
• While in operation, always keep your eyes on the
sewing area, and do not touch any moving parts such
as the thread take-up lever, cutter blade or needle.
• Do not touch the cutter blades as they have sharp
edges.
• Select only wide zigzag or overedge stitch pattern
when using a built-in side cutter.
• Attach the exclusive serging foot (U) when using a
built-in side cutter.
• Sew at the slowest speed as possible.
• Always store the built-in side cutter unit in its original
position when it is not in use.
To set the built-in side cutter
z Attach the exclusive serging foot (U).
Pull 4˝ (10 cm) of both threads back and under the
presser foot.
x Turn the handwheel toward you to raise the thread
take-up lever q to its highest position. Lower the
presser foot w with the presser foot lifter.

c Swing down the lever e to set the built-in side cutter.

v Slide up the lever, and insert the end of the lower
blade into the opening of needle plate.
