4.9 Doffing

Leave the polluted area before removing the respiratory
inlet covering and fan unit.
• Take off the respiratory inlet covering.
• Switch off the fan unit.
• Release the belt and remove the fan unit.
• After use, the SR 500 components must be cleaned,
inspected and prepared for reuse (e.g. charge the
batteries).

4.10 Other Accessories

selecting configurations of components to optimize

Plug kit
The Plug kit is used for cleaning or decontamination of
the fan unit and prevents dirt and water from entering
the fan housing.
Disconnect the breathing hose and the filters and install
the plugs. Fig. 29.

5. Technical Specifications

SR 500 Fan Unit
Air flow rate
During normal operation, the air flow rate is at least
6.2CFM (175 l/min), which is the manufacturer's
recommended minimum flow rate or MMDF. On
boosted operation, the air flow rate is at least 7.9CFM
(225 l/min).
Shelf life
The SR 500 system has a shelf life of 5 years from the
date of manufacture. However, note that the battery
must be charged at least once a year.
Temperature range
• Storage temperature: from -20 to +40 °C at a relative
humidity below 90%.
• Service temperature: from -10 to +55 °C at a relative
humidity below 90%.
Battery
HD, Heavy Duty, 14.8 V, 3.6 Ah, lithium-ion.
• The charging time for the HD battery is about 2 h.
• The cycling life is about 500 full cycles.
Operating times
The operating times may vary with the temperature,
and the condition of the battery and filters.
The table below gives the expected operating times
under ideal conditions.
