2.4 PC-CONTROLLER CONNECTION
The practical use of this software assumes connection of the PC to a controller via serial
cable. This cable (supplied as standard with the software) includes an RS232/TTL con-
verter for conversion of the TTL signals present on the rear connector of the control units
into an isolated RS232 signal connectable to the PC.
Connect the end with the telephone jack RJ6 to the controller and the end with the DB9
connector to the serial port of PC. When running the software it is possible to check im-
mediately whether the connection has been made properly.
If the software fails to activate the communication (ONLINE mode), check the number of
the serial port used on the PC with the one selected in the Configuration-Options menu.
N.B.: This type of connection has been designed to be used in the setup, testing or diag-
nostics phases.
For a permanent serial connection it is preferable to use the controllers of the RPA series
provided with serial output RS485.
