SM
This louver is intended for replacing the air in the room directly from the
G B
fan coil unit.
The amount of outdoor air, filtered and treated thermally, may be regulated
proportionally from 0 to 100% by means of a built-in servomotor.
The SM kit, as shown in figure 1, essentially comprises the following components:
A
Outdoor air inlet louvre made of steel sheet painted in the same color as
the cover cabinet.
B
Servomotor connected directly to the louvre's baffle, with a protection rating
of IP54 and power supply of ~ 24V.
The louvre may be opened or closed automatically at the signal of the external
auxiliary contacts (not supplied) such as antifreeze thermostats, timers,
etc., with the possibility of connecting multi-servomotors in parallel to an
individual position transducer.
C
230V - 24V voltage transformer, complete with support terminal strip.
D
Self-threading screws 4.2 x 13 for fixing the fan coil unit to the basic unit.
The control panels (accessories CSB and CSD), which activate the servocontrol,
are envisaged both for being installed on-board the fan coil unit and for the
remote installation (flush wall-mounting). They open or close the louver from
0 to 100%.
One of the following control panels must be coupled to the louvre:

To prevent the water from freezing inside the heat exchanger during the winter,
close the outdoor air inlet when the system is not operational or use an
antifreeze solution checking its freezing point.

The kit may be installed on the whole range of the éstro series fan coil units.
INSTALLATION
1. Check that the desired installation complies with one of the configurations in
figure 2.
A
Flush-mounted fan coil unit with 90° air inlet louver;
B
Flush-mounted fan coil unit with in-line air inlet louver;
C
Ceiling-mounted fan coil unit with 90° air inlet louver;
D
Ceiling-mounted fan coil unit with in-line air inlet louver.The outdoor air
inlet louver is always supplied with the sleeve in the back air inlet position.
2. Remove the sleeve as shown in figure 3.
3. Make an opening in the wall complying with the sizes shown in figure 4.
Note: As a rule the outdoor air inlet louvre is coupled with the outdoor air inlet
grid (GE+C).
To limit flow resistance of the sucked outdoor air, it is advisable to create the
opening as shown in figure 5.
4. Insert the sleeve into the opening and fix it as shown in figure 6 based on the
type of chosen installation.
A
Flush-mounted fan coil unit with 90° air inlet louver;
B
Flush-mounted fan coil unit with in-line air inlet louver;
C
Ceiling-mounted fan coil unit with 90° air inlet louver;
D
Ceiling-mounted fan coil unit with in-line air inlet louver.
5. Reassemble the sleeve on the louver, remove the cover cabinet from the fan
coil unit, connect the basic unit to the louvre (figure 7) and fix the basic unit to
the wall using 4 anchor screws.
6. Install the control panel (accessory CSB or CSD, figure 8b), on-board or
remotely or flush-mounted as shown in figure 8a.
7. Make the electrical connections complying with the diagrams of figure 9a (SMR
- SML), 9b (SMRC - SMRL), depending on the type of SM you have chosen.
Make the electrical connections, with power OFF, conforming to the prevailing
safety regulations.
Each fan-coil requires a switch (IL) on the feeder line with a distance of at least
3 mm between the opening contacts, and a suitable safety fuse (F).
The installer is in charge of carrying out the hatched connections.
The transformer is not supplied as a standard fitting for louvres setup for
the centralized control.
In these cases, provide a 24V-power supply line by sizing the transformer
according to the number of expected louvers. Consumption of every single
servomotor: 5 VA.
The SM louvers may be connected in parallel to a unique control up to a
maximum of 10.

OPERATION
The louver is operated by the control panel that contains the position transducer
that regulates the opening of the louvre in proportional mode.
On setting the control (100% for the remote control panels) the position of the
louver is that of total outdoor air inlet. Vice versa on setting the control (0% for
the remote control panels) the position of the louver is that of total ambient air
recycle.
The serigraphy on the control panel indicates the percentage of the fresh air.
CLEANING OF THE AIR FILTER
When removing the air filter for the periodic cleaning operations, the position
of the baffle should be that of total ambient air recycle (0%).
HOW TO PLACE YOUR ORDER
In order to properly identify the outdoor air inlet louvre, carefully read what
is stated below.
-
The servomotor should always be positioned on the side opposite the
hydraulic couplings of the heat exchanger that operates with cooled water:
choose the louver with the motor on the right or on the left, accordingly.
-
For fan coil units with the DF supplemental 1-row heat exchanger, always
adopt the remote control panel.
-
If the SM louver is coupled to ceiling-mounted equipment with the FU version
cabinet, the fan coil units are to be ordered indicating the "with blind panel"
description.
-
The motorized louver kits designed for serving more than one motor to a
unique control (centralized control) are not equipped with the voltage
transformer. For further information refer to the wiring diagrams.
