Keep your hands in position until the on / off switch has been released and the saw blade has come to a
complete standstill.
To perform the cut, push the saw head down gently and smoothly. Excessive pressure or the
application of force at an angle to the cutting line can cause the saw blade to oscillate, which can
produce additional saw marks in the workpiece and impair the accuracy of the cut.
6.11.1 Sawing without push movement (chop sawing)
WARNING
Risk of injury if carriage not latched. If not latched the carriage can cause an unexpected sliding movement
of the saw head, leading to kickback.
▶ Always latch the carriage for making chop cuts.
1. Push the saw head all the way back (away from you).
2. Latch the carriage. → page 13
3. Position the stop plate of the depth gauge so that the depth gauge passes through the opening when
the saw head is lowered. → page 13
4. Adjust all the settings of the saw (angles, miter fences, contact surfaces) to suit the requirements of the
cut you are going to perform.
5. Secure the workpiece. → page 15
6. Switch the saw on. → page 16
7. Guide the saw head slowly down and saw through the workpiece at a steady rate of advance.
8. Switch the saw off and wait until the saw blade comes to a standstill.
9. Guide the saw head back up to the top position.
6.11.2 Sawing with push movement
WARNING
Kickback due to incorrect movement of the saw head. Incorrect movement of the saw head in the course
of a cut with push movement can cause a kickback.
▶ Before making a cut, always first pull the saw head all the way out, then lower it and finally push it toward
the miter fences.
▶ Never pull the saw head toward you when the saw blade has already entered the workpiece.
When making a cut with push movement, push the saw head to the miter fence gently and without
pausing. If the push movement is interrupted in the course of the cut, the saw blade leaves marks on
the workpiece and the accuracy of the cut is impaired.
1. If necessary, unlock the carriage. → page 13
2. Position the stop plate of the depth gauge so that the depth gauge passes through the opening when
the saw head is lowered. → page 13
3. Adjust all the settings of the saw (angles, miter fences, contact surfaces) to suit the requirements of the
cut you are going to perform.
4. Secure the workpiece. → page 15
5. Pull the saw head all the way toward you.
6. Switch the saw on. → page 16
7. Slowly guide the saw head down.
8. Keep the saw head in its bottommost position and slowly push it back (away from you). Saw the
workpiece through at a steady rate of advance.
9. Switch the saw off and wait until the saw blade comes to a standstill.
10. Guide the saw head back up to the top position.
6.11.3 Sawing a groove
1. Adjust the depth gauge to the desired cutting depth. → page 13
2. Perform a cut with push movement. → page 17
