4 Electrical installation
• Switch OFF power supply (Fig 41)
At least 4 cores are needed for L, N, 2× DA
Possible connections:
Phase (usually black,
L
=
brown or grey)
= Neutral conductor (usually blue)
N
S1–S3 = DALI groups 1 – 3 Touch Dim
S4
= PF relay, light ON / OFF
DA–
= Connection to the DALI BUS
DA+
For interconnecting several
P
=
presence detectors
If you are in any doubt, identify the conductors
using a voltage tester; then disconnect from
the power supply again.

DALI functionality Broadcast and
Addressable mode:
The IR Quattro HD DALI plus is set to work in
Broadcast mode on leaving the factory. All lights
connected to the DALI BUS will be controlled as
one large group. It is possible to operate as many
as 64 lights. All settings are also available in the
Broadcast mode (e.g. stay-ON time, light level,
fully / semi-automatic operation, constant light,
night light).
As soon as the lights have been addressed, the
presence detector switches to Addressable mode.
Any of up to 64 lights can be assigned to one of
the 3 light groups. The lights are assigned to the
groups via Smart Remote. These three light groups
are activated separately by the detector. Different
settings (fully / semi-automatic operation, constant
light, night light) can be selected for each group
of lights.
All lighting groups can be switched ON and OFF by
double-clicking on an external S1, S2 or S3 button.
Interconnecting:
Several sensors must be interconnected when
a larger detection zone needs to be covered.
It is possible to set up either an interconnected
master / master system or an interconnected
master / slave system.
Master / master:
An interconnected master / master system can
only be set up via the P conductor.
The sensors report detected movement /
presence to the connected master and each
sensor operates or controls its lights in line
with the particular settings of each individual
master. In this case, each sensor must be
configured. An interconnected master / master
system not only permits the use of several
DALI plus sensors, but also other sensors from
the Control PRO series (COM 1).
Master / slave:
In an interconnected master / slave system,
identified movement / presence is sent to the
master detector by the slave detectors. In this
case, the master sensor is the only sensor with
lights connected to it. The function settings
must only be made at the master. The slaves
only permit adjustment of reach. Depending
on sensor type, this can be done via Smart
Remote or by mechanical reach adjustment.
The slave sensors used can be DALI-2 input
devices connected to the DALI bus cable or
presence detectors from the Control PRO
series (COM 1) with no load connected to
them and connected with the master via P
conductor.
The IR Quattro HD Dali Plus is certified under
IEC 62386-103 as a single-master application
controller. This means that its DALI-2
certification only covers applications in which
only DALI control gears are connected to the
DALI bus. We furthermore guarantee that the
presence detector is also suitable for use in
multi-master applications with selected DALI
sensors for extending the detection zone. For
further information in this regard, please refer
to the Master / Slave section.
At this point, we expressly point out that no
DALI-2 certification is available for using the
product in a DALI bus system with several
control devices.
Note:
When connecting DALI-2 input devices for
extending the detection zone, please pay at-
tention to the power consumption of individual
sensors so as to make sure that the maximum
available current is not exceeded.
