6. Initial Operation
6.1
Attaching the additional handle
Always work with the additional handle (7)
attached! Firmly screw in the additional handle
with the screw and spring washer in the left or right
threaded hole (depending on requirements) using
an Allen key.
6.2
Attach the safety guard
For safety reasons, always use the safety
guard provided for the respective wheel! See
also chapter 12. Accessories!
Safety guard for grinding
Designed for working with cup wheels
See illustration E on page 2.
- Loosen the screws (18).
- Mount the safety guard (8) in the position
indicated.
- Tighten again the screws (18) firmly.
Loosen the safety guard in reverse order.
6.3
Setsafety guard
Set the safety guard in such a way that the cup
wheel protrudes by max. 3 mm.
-Loosen the screws (9).
=< 3 mm
-Push the safety guard (8)
downwards until the cup wheel
protrudes max. 3 mm over the safety
guard.
-Tighten screws (9).
6.4
Pivotable main handle
Only work with the main handle (16) engaged.
See illustration C on page 2.
- Push in the button (17).
- The main handle (16) can now be turned 90° to
both sides and can be engaged.
- Make sure that it is securely positioned: the main
handle (16) must be engaged and it should not be
possible to move it.
6.5
Battery pack
Charge the battery pack (13) before use.
Recharge the battery pack if performance
diminishes.
The ideal storage temperature is between 10°C and
30°C.
Li-Ion battery packs "Li-Power, LiHD" have a
capacity and signal indicator (6):
- Press the button (5), the LEDs indicate the charge
level.
- The battery pack is almost flat and must be
recharged if one LED is flashing.
WPB 36-18 ...:
- Use always two Metabo 18-Volt slide-on battery
packs.
- Recommended capacity 4.0 Ah and greater.
- We recommend the use of battery packs with
identical item number.
- The use of battery packs with different capacity
(Ah) is permitted. In this case, the battery pack
with the smaller capacity (Ah) determines the
useful life.
6.6
Removing and inserting the battery pack
See illustration A on page 2.
Removing:
Press the battery pack release (12) button and
remove the battery pack (13).
Inserting:
Slide in the battery pack (13) until it engages.
7. Attach cup wheel
Prior to any conversion work: remove battery
pack from machine. The machine must be
switched off and the spindle at a standstill.
For reasons of safety, attach the cut-off
grinding guard before performing cut-off
grinding work (see Chapter 12. Accessories).
7.1
Locking the spindle
- Press in the spindle locking button (3) and
turn the spindle (2) by hand until the spindle
locking button engages.
7.2
Position / fix cup wheel
See illustration D on page 2.
- Fit the support flange (1) on the spindle. The
flange should not turn on the spindle when
properly attached.
- Place the cup wheel on the support flange (1).
The cup wheel must lay flat on the supporting
flange.
- Screw on the cup wheels with threaded insert.
7.3
Fix/loosen two-hole nut or cup wheel
with threaded insert
Fix two-hole nut (10) / cup wheel with threaded
insert:
The 2 sides of the two-hole nut are different.
Screw the two-hole nut onto the spindle as follows:
See illustration D on page 2.
- The edge of the two-hole nut (10) faces
downwards so that the two-hole nut can be
attached securely to the spindle.
- Lock the spindle. Turn the two-hole nut (10) / cup
wheel with threaded insert clockwise using the
two-hole spanner (11) to secure.
at least 20 Nm!
- Note: as an alternative to fastening using the two-
hole wrench (11), you can tighten the two hole
nuts (10) as follows:
Lock the spindle. Firmly screw on the two-hole nut
(10) / cup wheel with threaded insert by hand.
Hold the edge of the cup wheel and manually
rotate it clockwise by at least 1/2 a rotation.
