MAINTENANCE
Fill with lubricant following the instructions in Adding/
Checking Engine Lubricant earlier in this manual.
For amount of lubricant needed to refill, see Product
Specifications earlier in this manual.
Before using the pressure washer, check to ensure that
no lubricant is leaking from the engine.
NOTE: Consult hazardous waste management guidelines in
your area for the proper way to dispose of used lubricant.
Checking the Spark Plug
See Figure 23.
Clean the area around the base of the spark plug before
removing to keep dirt and debris out of the engine. Re-
move spark plug.
Clean off carbon deposits on the spark plug electrode
using a plug cleaner or wire brush. Replace the plug if
worn or reuse is questionable. For replacement spark
plug, see Product Specifications earlier in this manual.
Check electrode gap. The gap should be 0.7 – 0.8 mm
(0.028 – 0.031 in.). Adjust the gap, if necessary, by care-
fully bending the ground electrode.
Check the condition of the spark plug gasket.
Reinstall spark plug. Start the spark plug in its threads
by hand and finger-tighten.
Tighten with wrench to compress washer. If spark plug
is new, use 1/2 turn to compress washer appropriate
amount. If reusing old spark plug, use 1/8 to 1/4 turn for
proper washer compression.
NOTE: An improperly tightened spark plug will become
very hot and could damage the engine.
Pump Lubrication
The pump on this product was lubricated with a sufficient
amount of high grade lubricant for the life of the unit under
normal operating conditions. Therefore, no further lubrication
is required.
Pump Maintenance
Routinely make a visual inspection of the pump. If you notice
any leaking of lubricant around the pump oil seals, take the
pressure washer to an authorized dealer for repair.
There are no user serviceable parts to the pressure washer
pump. Any attempt to service or alter the pump may damage
the pressure washer and void your product warranty.

Storing the Pressure Washer
See Figure 24.
NOTE: Regular use of fuel stabilizer and pump protector
will give you better performance of the unit and increase
the life of the pump.
While storing, keep at least 3 feet (91.4 cm) of clearance
on all sides of this product, including overhead. Allow a
minimum of 30 minutes of "cool down" time before stor-
age. Heat created by muffler and exhaust gases could
be hot enough to ignite combustible objects.
Store in a dry, covered area where the weather can't damage it.
It is important to store this product in a frost-free area. Always
empty water from all hoses and the pump before storing.
Drain the fuel tank completely by running the pressure
washer until the gas runs out. Stored gas can go stale in
30 days.
NOTE: Make sure the water supply is connected and
turned on when allowing the pressure washer engine to
run.
Make sure the on/off switch is in the OFF position and
and fuel valve is in the CLOSED position.
Disconnect both the high pressure hose and the garden
hose from the pump.
Empty the pump by pulling on the starter grip and rope
about 6 times. This should remove most of the liquid from
the pump.
If the location where your pressure washer is stored will
fall below 32°F (0 °C), the use of a pump protector is re-
quired before storing to prevent freeze damage. Freeze
damage will void your warranty.
Drain the lubricant and replace with fresh, clean lubricant.
Disconnect spark plug wire and remove the spark plug.
Pour about a teaspoon (5 ml) of clean, air-cooled, four-cycle
lubricant through the spark plug hole into the combustion
chamber.
Leaving the spark plug out, pull the starter grip and rope
two or three times to coat the inside of the cylinder wall.
Inspect the spark plug and clean or replace, as necessary.
