By changing the drum gripper the drum lifter can be adjusted to suit
various starting heights and so the "no load lift distance" (the amount
the lifter is raised before the drum is lifted) can be reduced.
In addition, the drum gripper may need to be moved to a lower pick-up
position for example when placing steel drums into spill pallets without
a grid.
To do this remove the safety clip (1) from the bolt (2). Now the bolts
can be removed and the drum gripper set at a different height. Secure
the gripper with the bolts then replace the safety clip.
Check that the drum lifter is in good condition and operates correctly.
Warning - always ensure gripper bolt is secured with a split pin.
6. Technical data
Servo Type
Dead weight (kg)
Max. load capacity (kg)
Permitted operating temperature / ambient temperature: -10°C to 40°C.
7. Operation
Loading
Lift the drum gripper to just underneath the upper edge of the drum.
Approach the drum to be loaded centrally with the drum lifter.
The support (4) must be positioned under the drum edge.
Raise the lifter slightly using the hydraulic pump or the crank handle.
The clamping lever (3) grips the top of the drum.
Check the drum is securely held.
Lift the drum using the hand crank or the hydraulic pump.
Lift the load using the foot pedal or the crank handle.
Drum transport
- Pull/push the drum lifter using the handle to the new location.
- Drums should only be slightly raised when being transported.
- Do not exceed walking speed (3,6km/h).
- Do not change direction or slow down suddenly.
- Prevent the load from swinging.
- Ensure the drum lifter is on stable ground.
- Only use flooring which is level, even and can support the weight.
Do not go down slopes.
Setting down the drum
Use the foot operated lowering valve to slowly set the load down.
For lifting gear which has a cable winch, lower the load by turning the crank handle slowly anti-clockwise.
Faults (drum lifter with hydraulics)
If the drum lifter does not lift the load, there may be air bubbles in the hydraulic system. The procedure for
removal of air bubbles is described in section 5 (Setting up and initial operation).
