Installation and Lubrication
Size air supply line to ensure tool's maximum operating pressure (PMAX) at tool inlet. Drain
condensate from valve(s) at low point(s) of piping, air fi lter and compressor tank daily. Install
a properly sized Safety Air Fuse upstream of hose and use an anti-whip device across any
hose coupling without internal shut-off , to prevent hose whipping if a hose fails or coupling
disconnects. See drawing 16606303 and table on page 2. Maintenance frequency is shown in a
circular arrow and defi ned as h=hours, d=days, and m=months of actual use. Items identifi ed as:
1. Air fi lter
2. Regulator
3. Lubricator
4. Emergency shut-off valve
5. Hose diameter
6. Thread size
After each forty-eight hours of operation, remove the Hammer Case and check the grease
content. If the parts (especially the jaws of both the Hammer and Anvil) are not well coated with
Ingersoll Rand No.100 Grease, shorten the interval between each greasing. If the Hammer Case
is grease loaded, lengthen the interval. Before replacing the Hammer Case, be sure that the
jaws on the Hammer and Anvil and all bearing surfaces are coated with grease. Also, insert one
teaspoonful (3 cc) of grease into each hole in the side of the Hammer to lubricate the Cam Balls.
Do not grease the cylindrical surface of the Hammer; this is not a bearing surface. Remove any
excess grease, especially any that may have accumulated on the hammer case wall.
